I just picked up two Bear recurves, a Super kodiak and a Grizzly. I am primarily a longbow shooter but wanted these in my stable. Question: Is it ok to leave these 70's vintage bows strung on my bow rack?
Honestly.....You will probly damage them faster by stringing and unstringing them than you ever will by leaving them strung.
Just one "old fart's" opinion though.....
I would leave them unstrung. If you do string one up,ALWAYS use a stringer. Then you won`t have any problems with the limbs twisting or anything. And it`s safer and also easier to string up.
ttt... any other responses??
I leave my Bear cub strung 100% of the time but I due shoot it at least once a week. I think stringing and un-stringing does more damage for my use.
Heck, '70's ain't old. I'm from the late '40's and been strung the whole time. Leave em braced and hanging horizontal from two points on the string.
Thanks guys... strung it is!
leave my bear alaskan strung 24/7 now. didnt used to but after a few cracked knuckles when stringing it i changed my mind. got it from my father in law in 1988 or so and it was strung and had been leaning in the corner of the closet for years. shoots great
