Title: Bear Alaskan
Post by: L. E. Carroll on March 15, 2007, 04:41:00 AM
Have a chance to pick up a 61? Bear Alaskan for $200 with a few Origional Bear arrows with Razorheads and bleeders. Not sure if this is a good deal? Need some thoughts quick as not sure how long it will last.  Thanx, Gene

Seems high to me.  They sell for that much on certain auction sites, but that's not really a good barometer of what it's worth.  If it's perfect and you are a collector, maybe.

IT IS NOT A "GOOD DEAL".....If you REALLY want it,at any cost, then buy it.

Honestly.....The bow is worth $75 - $100,The arrows are probly not shootable (paint and cedar get brittle with age,and feathers get moth-eaten) If you look around, the old green Razorheads can be picked up for about a buck apiece.

That said.....I once saw a 1967 Kodiak Magnum with a green "spring-arm" bow quiver filled with original Bear cedar hunting arrows tipped with green Razorheads, hanging on a wall in a fellows house. I commented what a nice bow it was and I asked him if he hunted with it.....WELL.....You would have thought I slapped him by the look on his face!!!!! His reply....."ARE YOU KIDDING????? I PAYED ALMOST A THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR THAT BOW!!!!!

Lesson learned.....Collectors will pay much more than something is worth just to have it in thier "collection".
