I traded for a PLII 62in. 55@28 about October last year.I am shooting this bow better than anything I have ever tried.My favorite game is hit the soda can. I am about 70% up to 35yds and a miss is not by much. Now I can't hit squat with my $925 custom recurve. My question is does the design of the PL make it forgiving to my errors or does my style go better with a longbow. This is the first longbow I have owned though I have shot several. I have heard narrow deep core limbs were more forgiving to release errors.What other longbows have a similar design.I love to try different bows.

I liked my widow longbow, I just had a hard time getting used to the grip, but that's just a personal thing for me, nothing wrong with the bow itself. So I tried the Thunderhorn. I really like everything about my 3 pc Thunderhorn longbow. It's now my "one and only" hunting bow.

I just got mine in Feb....and it too is a shooter.
Let me just say this....if it had not been for the giving "traditional" one more try....with a Martin Savannah longbow....I'm sure I wouldn't be in it right now.
Over the last three years I've had the following recurves....Bear Grizzly, Bear Cheyenne, and a Martin Dreamcatcher.
I immediately shot the Savannah longbow better than any of them.
I still have the Savannah...plus a Bear Montana...plus my new Widow.
I am now shooting to 22 yards with confidence...and have been practicing more at longer ranges.
There is something about the "longbow"....that for my style...simply made the learning curve easier. Last fall...I took 2 deer and a turkey with the Savannah.
Sounds like you have experienced the same thing.

beaglesandbucks, I am glad you stuck with trad. I got my PL while my custom recurve was on order.The only bad thing is I shoot this longbow so much better than my new recurve.I've shot recurves off and on for 25 years but this is the first longbow I've owned. I tried others in the past some considered the best but didn't seem to shoot them well.I think I want to try a Border Griffon GL next.There does seem to be something about a longbow I like.

Some bows just seem right when you pick them up and we tend to shoot those a lot more. This of course leads to more practice and better results because we are having fun and that's what it's all about. I shoot recurves well and enjoy them, but I love my longbows.

RH - You may want to pick up a BW PSR. I have 2 of each (PSR & PL's) and switch back and forth between them easily. They both have the identical riser so you don't have to worry about making adjustments. They are my go to bows for hunting. Skinner.

bentpole, I gave less than $600 for mine used and it wasn't a year old. I also traded in another bow that I was allowed $300 for and the guy gave me 3 months to pay the balance.There are some deals if you look long enough. I wish you good luck also.

Pl's are more foregiving , like string torque and junk like that...good luck.. :wavey:

Are there any other narrow limb deep core longbows just as forgiving with possibly higher performance that anyone would recommend.Would a longer PL be even more stable? I draw 29in.Thanks everyone for the input.

I have a PSA3 and I shot a PL at Compton last year. I shot the Osage one they had and I relly liked it. If my PSA was not so new I would own an Osage PL.

Yep the Pl's do shoot good. I had tried several of the big name longbows 5 different ones which included a BW LAG. Had about given up on shooting a longbow. Bought a used PL and think I shoot it better than my recurves. That said I recently got a use Bob Lee TD longbow that I am really liking a lot.

I haven't had a chance to shoot one.
If I see a deal on a used one, I'll check 'em out. Doubt if I'd loose money if I didn't like it.

Theres more to Widows than speed. I own 1 PSA III, 1 PSA V and my favorite 1 PL T/D. The reason I like them so much is that they are simply so well made that I no longer even look at other bows. Extremely rugged with a very hard scratch resistant finish. Hard to say which is my favorite but probably the longbow as it is really nice to carry on an all day hunt.Did I mention there's no better customer service in the business?
