Hey guys, have been making takedown recurves for a while. Anyone have experience with the tool Binghams sells to align the holes up from the lim to the riser? Was looking at investing in one. Anyone out there have a different tool they use, or a way to insure proper alignment?
You talking about the jig they have for drilling the holes? I have one and it is difficult for me to get everything centered perfectly. The screws tend to dig into the riser block if you dont put some think wood in between. There has to be a better way? I've been wondering the same thing.
I use a "self centering dowl jig " you can get them about any good hardware store or on the web.
I know that a lot of people don,t like them but i have used them for 18 years with no trouble' and i am still using the same one i bought when i started
I have a jig like the Bingham. The thing I didnt care about with thier jig was the pilot holes in the jig are not made of harden steel.after much use they oversize. And the center line was off.I had mine built by a machinest.
