So, I have narrowed it down two two different broad heads that I want to try for the upcoming bear and turkey season and then on an elk hunt this fall.
I am debating between the Ace Super express 175gr head with a 35 gr steel adapter (210gr total); or a 190gr Single bevel Tusker Concorde broad head.
Which ever one I go with I am going to be shooting Carbon Express Heritage 250 shafts with 100gr brass inserts, out of a 59# Chekmate Hunter T/D recurve.
So the question is which one would you guys choose, and why?
Thanks
Allan
I've never handled the Tuskers, but understand they are excellent heads. On the other hand, I just bought a pack of Ace Super Express heads a couple weeks ago and am really impressed with them. I wouldn't hesitate to run them through anything I plan on hunting.
I've been using the Ace Super Express 200gr for a couple years now and I like them a lot. Of coarse I've always liked big 2 blade heads. I started with the big Goshawk back in the 50's. Also liked and used the Pearson DeadHeads. The Ace has everything you'd want in a head, it's strong, sharpens easily, flys well, and makes a big hole.
I haven't tried the Tusker but it's probably a good head also.
Last year in Camp I got Roger Norris to try the Ace with good results.

I may be wrong on this, but the Tusker Concorde 190 only comes in a double bevel, not a single bevel. The Concorde 250 & 300 come in single left bevel. Scroll down the page on this link to see what I'm commenting on.

Ron's right...I'm a big fan of the ACE Super Express. Awesome head.
The Ace would be my choice as well, for the stronger tip and extra width. I've been shooting the Ace Express for several years and might be taking some Supers on a May pig hunt.
I've grown highly partial to the Tuskers but have heard nothing but positives regarding the Ace heads.
There's not a factory 190 single bevel, like Night Wing mentioned, it could be accomplished with a little tweaking though.
Allan,
The Ace is undoubtedly a good head, but Tim at Braveheart has the 300 gr single bevel Tuskers that are nice heads and very tough. Probably just a matter of personal choice. Maybe you should buy some of both and try them out. The Tuskers are very reasonably priced for what you get. I like mine.

KME is working on taking blanks in Griz, STOS and the Tuskers and grinding a single bevel on them and selling them.
The 190 El Grande (Griz) is reported to come out to about 175 when single beveled left and tanto tipped. The 190 Tusker is the "blank" weight and comes out closer to 160 when single beveled...
So some differences... hadn't heard aobut the 300 gr. single bevel...Is that "finished" weight?
Ace heads are great heads I love them. They are strong sturdy and fly really well definently one of the best two blade heads on the market.
I also love my Ace Standards in 160gr.c/w 45gr. adapters. They're tough heads!
Doc, they are screw ins not glue ons.

I thought the Grizzly 190 El Grande was a single right bevel. Is this correct?

It is 190 R bevel but KME is changing the angle to 25 degrees as Dr Ashby recommends.I believe the single bevel Concordes come out heavier than 160.They start out as a 212 gr blank.I can't remember the exact weight but it is less than 190.He also grinds the proper tanto tip, hones the edges etc..
If this a vote I would say the Ace,like said before they are easy to sharpen and are great heads.
My 190 Concordes come out about 175 when I put a single bevel and tanto point on them. I've done the same thing to 175 Aztecs and they come out 160 so it seems to be pretty consistent.
I just wanted to make sure the Grizzly 190 El Grande is single right bevel because I'm going to be ordering 6 El Grande broadheads. They should fly well with my right wing feathers on my arrows. I will also be ordering 6 Tusker 190 Concorde double bevel broadheads in a few weeks. I want to try out both broadheads.
Night Wing, you have it right. The Grizzlies are all right single bevel. The glue on 190 Tusker Concorde is a double beveled head.
Just to clear up any confusion...
Like Slowbow said, all Grizzly BHs are right bevel. The 190s weigh 175ish after beveling to 25 degrees and sharpening.
The Tusker Concord 190s weighs 190 before any grinding or sharpening and finish in the 165-170 gr range when we're done tunin em up. (yes LH or RH available).
As for how they compare with the Ace, both are very good heads but I've noticed that the Tuskers are better at holding an edge which is something else to consider.
