Call Bob Morrison. Most of what other bowyers are using right now is his stuff.

I am not sure of this, but I was told this is the same foam used to make snow skis. You might try a source in that area.

I may be speaking a little early but I am pretty sure that OMC is selling Morrisons stuff. I think that Bob has it made and sells it to OMC.

Ferret is right. OMC cuts my stuff for me and the foam he sells is mine. And no I will not tell you who makes it for me  :p

Funny thing that syntactic foam.  I use it in something I designed for use in jet fighter electronics for a completely different purpose, nothing structural.

We mix it up and pour it into the spaces we need it in.  I have been mighty tempted to try and pour a sheet and see what happens.

Cupcake,  I've used micro balloons mixed with west systems epoxy to use as fill in surfboard repair. Would that be similar to what you have used? I was thinking the same thing in pouring up a lam or two. Not sure if it will be cost effective, though. OMC is selling them for $30 a lam.  Cheers

7eyes,
What I mentioned is very similar but we use a two-part urathane for "other" reasons.  I think the West epoxy and microballoons would work.  I also think that the gray foam in a Morrison might be carbon balloons but am not sure.

I was wondering about the size of a lamination from OMC.  Is it thick enough for a limb, or do you need multiple pieces?  That could get pricey.

When I talked to a lady there, I didn't talk to the main guy. Sounded like you order parallels and tapers. And build a limb stack. I'm not positive on that.

I figure what gives it the gray color is about halfway down the page   HERE (http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/search_subCategory.do?categoryName=Thickeners%20/%20Fillers%20/%20%20Additives&categoryId=210&refine=1&page=GRID)
Along with some other "VITAL" stuff for the mix.
