I am trying to pick out a new long bow. But there are no traditional shops around that carry anything. Like a Shrew or Tomahawk,Thunderstick,Great Plains. These are bows I am intrested in. Are there any archery shows or something similar. Where I can go and shoot some different bows. I Live in VA. Not sure of any here. Just wondering. Thanks

Three Finger, Put a topic on the PowWow asking if there is anyone near the town you live in. If there is someone within a reasonable driving distance you can meet up to shoot with them. If fou just go with what others recommend you may end up with a bow you don't like. You are doing the right thing by shooting a bow before you buy. I was in a same situation when I started traditional archery with no shops etc. I bought several new bows, and used bows on the site based on what other recommended, even very highly respected guys on this site and found out quickly that what others like, I do not like at all. Took me a while to find my magic bow. Good luck,
Three Finger....azhunter made a good suggestion. That's what I did and met some fellow tradgangers who let me try out their bows. Great people in here, always willing to help a fellow out.

Check out the Virginia forum here on TG. There is a thread listing everybody's locations. I will be at Baltimore with a mess of other TGers, and ATAR as well. (Beckley, WV.) Somewhere in Middle Virginia will be the S.T.A.R. shoot, which I hear is worth the trip. Look into Dixie Bowmen, too.
Being right on the border, check out the NC stuff going on, too. There should be some pretty good pickings in the Trad Events Forum.
