We are over run with hogs.We can shoot 8 or 9 hogs a day that gets pretty pricie on arrows.Any sugestions on cheap arrows.
-
I'm in Dallas, and I have a lot of arrows!
-
I am in Colorado and have lots of arrows too!!!
Not sure were to get cheap arrows, but I could see how that would eat up arrows fast!!
Sounds like a blast though, I am VERY serious about helping you with your problem, BTW
-
I thought about setting up some of my wall tents and having tradional hog shoot one weekend
-
I'll help to!!!! When and where? :D
Mike at The Nocking Point has shafts for the best prices I've seen. He has me stocked up and ready for some of them hogs
-
I live in Sherman and would gladly help you thin them out. :bigsmyl:
-
That is a good idea Steve.
-
Steve71 are you just trying to tease some of us? LOL :)
-
That's like saying..."I have too many girls that like me!" It just don't make sense man!
-
I'd just shoot a tough carbon arrow you should be able to kill a ton of hogs with a dozen carbon arrows. I don't worry about them bending they are tough to break. I paint the back 10" so I can find them if I miss. Good luck
-
Thats a good problem to have.I can only shoot one buck a year in ohio ,i wish we had hogs.
-
Sorry guys I had to go get a can of snuff.would any of yall be interested in haveing a hog shoot one weekend.
-
HELL yes!! I'll even designate myself as the official "dragger outer!"
-
boy I wished I had your problem, not any hogs in utah.Arrows are the only thing I can get cheap.Good luck thining them out.
-
I have two places to hunt right now one is 380 acers that my family owns and the other is 2200 acers that we work cattle on.
-
Never heard of a bad reason to go to Texas - well there was that time at Fort Hood, but that was a while ago - how far's Weatherford from Dallas or Houston? I have one daughter in Dallas and one in Houston.
-
I am 1hr 20mins from Dallas
-
I'm in for sure. There has to be some good in being laid off.
Jon, with two drivers we can make it in one long day from my place.
-
Rick, I'm in buddy!
-

Do any of you have a problem hunting over a feeder.
-
I'd be interested too. I love hunting pigs.
Bisch
-
Oliverstacy, hell of a gesture!
-
Lets try to put this together
-
I wish you were closer to Houston, but I might be able to make it up there for a trad weekend.
Chester
-
Steve I have buddies in Albany, etc. and can be there as soon as you say. I can help organize if necessary. A trad shoot would be nuts! Weatherford is a breeze from Dallas and down at the end of the street from Ft. Worth! Are you trying to eradicate them or just hunt them? Always take out the alpha female and her subordinate female, as well as the alpha boar, which is easier said than done, but this will "break" a sounder of pigs and disrupt it's birth cycles. The fellas I know who do it well use game cams to figure out who's who in a sounder and knock them off one at a time. It's an ongoing war....here's his advice:
"....The problem with trying to reduce their numbers lies in taking out "select animals" in a "certain order" without educating the entire group.
Getting "volunteer hunters" is no problem. Every time I post a hog picture here (or elsewhere) I'll get 50 solicitations to "come help". Unfortunately, maybe one or two of those well meaning folks actually understand hogs and their habits. The rest will only succeed in "bumping into them" and educate the hogs in the process.
My purpose is not to just "run them off" for awhile. I am trying to thin their numbers by appreciable amounts.
To do this...you need to take out as many boars as you can first. The mature boars a very elusive and smart. Next...(or at nearly the same time) you need to locate and remove the "Alpha sow", she will be the leader of the sounder and an excellent "teacher".
Next step is to shoot out the "subordinate" sows (they are pig factories..as long as there is a boar around to breed them). What you are left with...is a "broken" sounder consisting of a mixture of younger sows and shoats. These can be trapped in large numbers, or shot out over a period of time.
Of course, a new group will come in and replace/displace what is left. Then the cycle starts all over again. But the object is to start at the top (remove the oldest smartest, most elusive first), then work your way down.
Just wading into the group...blasting, will result in a few pigs on the ground, but will educate the ENTIRE GROUP and only make them spooky.
Add to that.....the litigious society we now live in....and you'll find precious few rancher/farmers that will allow strangers onto their property for any reason (let alone to shoot at hogs).
Folks who hunt hogs "poorly" do more harm than good, you must be patient and outsmart them. They are extremely intelligent animals and "learn" faster than anything else I can think of that roams the woods...."
-
I wish I can join you guys!
-
I everyone aound wants get rid of them but I on the other handlike having something to shoot at all year.
-
IS there a truckstop close by....I'm thinkin' this sounds like fun!!
I'll even climb up on a hurricane deck to help with the chores, or I can twist a mean wire patch if needed...OH, and I'd be willing to help with the piggies too!!
-
I'm new here, but would love to come and try out the skills I've been learning. I live in Odessa.
Can I come?
-
That's 296 miles from me. I have lots of arrows!
-
Watch out for the invasion from north of the Red River! We Okies can always find some arrows that need to be polished with pork innards! I want to come too!!!!
Allan
-
Heck Steve, I will be there (Texas) the entire month of November and would be glad to hunt with you. Just tell me when and where.
Danny
-
Hey guys this was removed for a little while so they could make sure everything was on the up and up.I will talk to my dad and brother tomorrow and figure out a date and how many we can host. This is a FREE hunt there wll be no charge for anything(lodging, hunting, kill fees nothing). We will have to figure out the food .I love to cook in dutch ovens so I may buy all the food and we can split the cost mong us.
-
depending on when it is, I'm in?? I live south of Indy so if anyone is close that wants to ride share maybe we could come up with something
-

-
need someone to swing by my place and pick me up to...not to far outta the way?
-
Steve, finding a cheap arrow might depend on your poundage and type of bow. What are you shooting.
-
Please count me in, I too would help in cost. Over&Under and I could share fuel cost from Colorado.
Thanks
-
When would this hunt take place? I could be out in a day and a half! Never killed a pig.
-
Tell us what arrows you need Steve and we can bring you some.
Thanks
Barry

-
If you got room, I'd love to come too. I'm only about 5 hours away. I can cook, clean or whatever
-
Being laid off I got as much time as you got hogs. A little far, but I sure could go for some fresh pork...Mike
-
STEVE hogs are on my hit list.Have a couple dozzen arrows of your liking,to camp a few days. Then I would have someone to hunt with a day or two while I'm there.Pm me if your still haveing hog trouble. I could start any time after next SEPT.
DEAD is DEAD no matter how fast your arrow gets there.
-
I am so very in on trad hunt! PLEASE PM ME DETAILS!!!
-
I am going try to get some dates tomorrow after I talk to my Dad and brother to see if they have anything going.I know my dad is haveing all his high school buddie out to varmit hunt out there soon.I have a benifit team roping I am putting on the weekend of Mar 8th.maybe end of march first of april. It sounds like I might need to do a couple of weekends.
-
end of march works for me!
so how many for sure would come?
is there enough pigs and spots to hunt for all the hunting pressure?

jamie
-
Oh and by the way, I'm a cooking fool. We'd be eatin' well. Now I just gotta figure the best way to get to Texas, that if y'all will have a Californian
-
STEVE hogs are on my hit list.I have a couple dozzen arrows to your likeing to come camp a few days.
Come next SEPT. if your still haveing hog trouble PM me.I would love to help you out.
-
I do not think hunting presure will bother them.We have had buddies with guns out and shot hogs all weekend. The next my dad went out the next day and saw more hogs then ever.
-
Can anybody pick me up at the airport in Dallas??????? Or at another city along the way??
-
DITTO beachbowhunter. I'll be the guy in the aloha shirt :knothead:
-
I'm interested too...awfully nice of you to offer this and will be great to get a bunch of us together..
-
Ramin wood would be cheap.
-
I can bring ya some arrows too. I would love to have a trad weekend hunting pigs.
-
Hey Beach I could pick you up in Dallas I am in Sherman about 60 miles north of Dallas, then we would just head west on I 20.
-
Say Nakohe, got room for another?
-
If we pull it off, I can hit the airport. It's on the way. Let Steve figure it out first......then we go from there.
-
Mr. Steve, if its ok and you don't have too many fellas coming I would love to meet some fellow trad guys. I have yet to have the pleasure to hunt with a fellow hunter...
-
Steve,
When you get the dates set, I would sure be interested!
Chris
-
Steve,
I can make arrows real fast and if Over / Under and I make it a "date" we can drive there right quick. My wife hates venison but if tell her I'm shootin' pigs she might let me come. Got a beach with blue water there? I could prop her up next to it.....no, she'd probably notice. Anyhow, this sounds like it's too good to be true.
Over and Under, you going to CTAS banquet next week?
homebru aka nathan in parker, co
-
I'm in Garland and would gladly donate a dozen arrows of your choice for a chance to stick some hogs. My in laws live in Weatheford so I'm out there a lot.
Shoot me a PM if we can work something out.
Thx.
-
I apprecaite all the offers on arrows but it is not necessery.I just thought it would be fun to get abunch of tradional shooters together.
-

The feeder wouldn't be my first choice, but I'm not opposed to them or corning the road, either. These are feral pigs, kinda like carp but good to eat. When we get them thinned down to a reasonable level, we'll worry about the particulars.
-
Everyone that wants to come PM me so I can get a count on how many wants to come and who is riding with who. That way if I have to split it up I will know.
-
PM sent
-
message sent
-
You betcha NorthernAclifornia.
-
Depends when the dates are, but I'm intrested!
-
If the campsite isn't full I'd like to be there.
Dennis
-
Sounds like a blast! This spring sounds good.
-
Just checked mapquest...1244.85 miles to Weatherford, Tx from my house. Says 19 hr 31 minutes...sounds like a good roadtrip.
How about a turkey hunt in return, you'll need an arrow or two in return!
Josh
-
Dates??? I would be interested if the timing is right.
-
I just checked and I'm 1280 miles but it sure sounds like fun!
-
If there is still room I am interested as well depending on dates.
Beachbowhunter, I am near you down in Laguna Niguel. Perhaps we could travel together, and if there is no one to pick us up we could share the expense of a rental car. There may be others such as NorthernCaliforniaHunter that may want to share the ride as well.
-
I have 20 people right now. So I will have to split it up .I was thinking April 24,25,26 and May15,16,17.Iwouldhave everyone meet in Eastland Tx at the WalMart around noon on friday and them everyone could follow me to our place we figure we can have ten at one time and everone be able to shoot at some pigs. Please PM me and let me know which weekend works for you and I will start from there.I YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY EXPRESSED INTEREST TO ME THRU PM PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT TILL I SEE HOW MANY SPOTS I HAVE LEFT.THANK YOU STEVE
-
This is sounding good!
-
crap i leave for work... get back and too late
-
Where would be the best place to fly into?
-
Brill, probably DFW. Somebody coming thru may well be able to pick you up and drop you off, too.
-
Is anyone going from the Northeast? I told Steve I would like the April trip, but if anyone is driving from this way I would be up for a road trip.
-
I have asked to go during the May time frame. I will be driving through DFW to get there from Arkansas and could pick some folks up. I can fit 3 passengers in the truck.
If I am invited I would like to split a room with someone to cut down on expensise for me.
-
would love to come too if you have room!
-
The dates are not good for me. O well, hope this works out and you do this again. I would like to give it a try..... ron w
-
I might be able to make it. I live near Tulsa and bring my fifth wheel. I'll have room for 2 others.
-
Hey guys been atwork all day just able to start working the hunt again. My plan is to set up two wall tents 16x14s for sleeping and Iwill set a menu and we can all chip in the cost of food. Each person to supply what they want to drink.I will have plenty of coffe.I donot mind alcohal BUT IF YOU PLAN ON STAYING DRUNK DO NOT COME.I ebjoy a jack and water from time to time but I DO NOT ENJOY DRUNKS!Keep checking back here for updates. If you have a question Pm mw and I will post the question and answer here.
-
Steve
I sure appreciate your work to put this together. I for one have been wanting to try my hand at some hogs for some time now, and you have helped make that possible. Thanks again.
I will pm you with a few questions.
Jake
-
Weather in April and May can range from 70 to 90 degrees day and 45 to 60s night. With some rain.
-
Question: Should I bring a groung blind?I plan on having at least 10 blinds(brush and tree stands) Over water or soured wheat.
-
I am so excited I can't stand it!!!! Jake and I are already planning and shootin arrows at imaginary hogs.
Steve, Jake will ask questions for the both of us, I don't want to pound you with too many.
Sounds like "pure" fun.
Thanks Again
Barry
-
Question:What is the average size hog and what is the average shot.Answer the averagesize is one hundred pounds,But they go up to 300lbs.The average shot 20 to 25 yds.
-
you have stirred up a hornets nest :biglaugh:
-
I second that on the thanks Steve. I think this will be a great hunt. All the guys I have ever hunted with from this site have been great and this should not be any different. I do not drink, so no problem on me being drunk. LOL
-
Thank you so much for all your effort and hospitality! Not rush you or add any more pressure than you already have but ...when will you publish the list for the hunts? I'd like to ask off if I made it.
-
Steve stopped by the shop yesterday and we talked a bit about this hunt. Sounds like it could be a blast. I think Jason, Rusty and I will stop by for some BS'ing and shooting. Might get talked into doing a little hunting.
We'll throw some bows in the truck to fondle too.
Mike
-
Steve71, after I move down there I'll be more then happy to come and help with the hogz
-
Steve,
I live in Fort Worth and would love to join you guys if you have a spot...shot you a pm.
Be blessed,
Ben

-
If I have missed anyone or if I have put you on the wrong weekend LET ME KNOW PLEASE.I did not mean to as you can see I had to add an extra person to each hunt.
-
Whoo hoo..the countdown begins. Looking forward to meeting everyone and a great hunt!
-
Please check this post for it is the way I will keep you informed for it takes too long to PM each of you
-
Thank you for the chance, can't wait to get there.
Brian
-
How do you get hog meat home on a plane? LOL, I have alot of questions before May, I have never flown anywhere to hunt!
-
Check an ice chest
-
mail it.
-
Bob,
Use Arkansas Express, Pros -it's FREE, Cons - it only delivers to Central AR... to my house. ; )
I am really looking forward to seeing you and the others there.
-
Buckster,Pac is also coming from ARK.
-
Buckster I'm in Beebe. Where are you. Might share the drive if you are interested.
-
I see you managed to work in Hawkeye; Thanks a bunch. This will be my second "TradGang" hunt, I snuck in on BQ2 and it was GREAT. I'm sure this will be the same. :campfire:
Me thinks I need to fletch up some arrows! :archer:
-
Appreciate the opportunity. Hope we can help you out! See yall in May!
-
Yee Haw and Thank You!!
I look forward to making the trek with Fletcher to see new friends from the Gang and harrass local wildlife! Thank you, Steve, for making it possible for us.
Daryl
-
Saving up the quarters and dimes!! WOO HOO!! First out-of-state hunt. Lots o' details to work out, I'm sure!
-
Look forward to seeing everybody there. Hope eveyone has a safe trip.
-
This will be great fun. Any of you who have not hunted hogs are in for a treat. Only thing to remember on a hog is do not hit it a little back. Vitals are right behind shoulder, best to try and bust shoulder or get a good quartering away shot to tuck in behind shoulder. They are tough beast and I have seen them survive marginal hits. Full moom night hunting is a hoot. I can hardly wait. YEEEHAW
-
Nakohe
That is great info, and I have been doing some looking on hogs and you are right about shot placement, as well as a good heavy setup with good BH's to get through the "shield".
Could you share any more helpful info about hog hunting for those of us (me) that have not hunted them before?
Thanks alot
Jake
-
The hardest thing is picking the one you want to shoot when there is 20 of them rooting around in front of you and then trying to get asecond arrow nocked to shoot another one
-
Razorsharp heads is the key. Really sharp. And at night when they are 15 yards out and you shoot and they are busting all around you. What a rush!!
-
Dang!!!! I am getting excited!!!! I can load pretty quick! Thwack!! Thawck!! Take that you miserable swine!! LOL!!
-
They also have very good noses, so wind is awful important. If they get a whif of you they are gone. Eye sight is not that good, but movement can be spotted by not so good eyesight. I like to stalk them, but it depends on where we hunt and if it is allowed. Blind hunting over feeders is also great. I just love to hunt. I had a blast in west Texas last year hunting javies and hogs. I have hunted hogs in south Texas also.
-
the hardest part is getting past the sows because the boar is always out the back. :biglaugh:
-
Thanks Steve! Can't wait to get after them! I think its going to be a great time.
Here is post on hog vitals.

"I see dead hogs"
-
Steve,
I sent you multiple PM's about coming, including specifying the April dates as being the ones I would prefer, but I never heard back and didn't see my name on the final lists. I'm not sure if that was because the messages weren't getting through or because of some other reason. Either way it is fine, but I did really want to come and am disappointed that I won't get to see you and all the guys. I hope everyone has a good time.
Allan
-
Alright, I'll be coming from Tulsa to the April hunt if anyone wants to jump in with me. Also it appears that we will need to arrange a pick up run at DFW. IF you are flying in, post your arrival times and hopefully everyone comes into the same airport. I believe that Dallas has at least two major airports.
Brian
-
All right guys the next best thing to shooting critters is eating, any sugestions on what yall would like to eat.Camp cooking dutch ovens and grill .I can cook just about anything so let me know.
-
How about the May hunt, where is everyone coming in from? How many are flying, and how many driving? I would like to book a plane ticket early so it is cheaper but I need to know what time ppl are getting in, and leaving on Sunday.
-
when is everyone going to try and leave Sunday or Monday. It does not matter to me .
-
Sunday night or early monday morning for us.
As far as food, whatever is easiest. Burgers, brawts, bisquits/gravy, potatos....
OH and BACON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Monday morning would be great for me, that means more time to hunt on Sunday :-) How about friday morning, are people going to carpool from the airport?
-
I only have 5 cots so if anyone has some could you bring them. Also Over&under Homebru is alao coming from Co.
-
Steve,
I generally don't care for organ meats...but other than that, I'll pretty much eat anything.
I planned to toss in a cot for myself...I might be able to throw in a second if necessary.
Anybody flying in for April? I may do that....long drive to do it alone.
I just checked the calendar and we've got NO moon on April 24. While night hunting would be a hoot, a full moon has the potential to slow things during the day....not always, but possibly.
In my very limited experience of shooting pigs and examining their anatomy, the phrase that I try to keep in mind is "Low and way forward". Shoot one like a deer and you'll just have a pissed off porker with a piercing. No meat for the freezer there. Low and WAAY forward.
Looking forward to chasing some hogs.
homebru
-
Take a look at the "Predator Eats" thread and you'll see a well placed arrow on a hog.
homebru
-
Just making sure that the Dallas/Fort Worth airport is the place that people are flying in to? There are two airports in Dallas, but I think I got the right one, flights are much cheaper in there.
-
Dfw is the place to fly into.
-
Steve71..not particular on the food either. I would love to pitch in and buy some of it if you dont mind. I like what ever we can cook simple and fast!!
-
I figured we would dived the cost between the whole group.I will probably buy all the groceries at walmart when we meet in eastland on friday
-
I'll have an extra cot if anyone needs one.
-
That sounds like a plan to me Steve. If anyone on the April hunt needs a ride from the DFW airport, I can probably take two in my truck. Let me know.
-
What kinda bows is everyone shooting on the hunt?
I am bringing my Acadian Woods recurve and probably my Charlie Lamb Sunbear. My arrows are Grizzlystik Woodies 500's cut at 29" and Wasp 140gr two blade heads. I will bring some Forgewoods also with 140 gr Treesharks on them.
-
Crow Creek Black Feather. 52 @ 28. Shooting 2016s with 125 gr 2 blade Magnus. Never shot a pig with a bow. My Magnus heads are very sharp and passed through both deer I shot this year. Will it be fine for hogs or should I go with 4 blade Magnus heads?
Probably just opened up a can of worms here.
I'm really looking forward to this. :jumper:
-
I can do about anything except fish heads or digestive organs. I'll be using my BBO longbow with GT 35/55's and Snuffers. May have some river cane shafts ready by then.
Looks like I need to buy a cot.
No Marine Corps/Full Metal Jacket style wake ups right? LOL!
-
Widow PLX Osage, 68#@28.
-
I have a cot and will bring it. I am not a picking eater, so anything is ok with me. I have some deer sticks I'll bring for snacking and see if the wife will bake up a big mess of cookies.
Haven't decided which bow I'll be shooting, so will probably just bring them both.
I can't wait. This is going to be fun. I never killed a hog before.
I will be driving from Iowa if anyone wants to share a ride.
-
Lefty...could I borrow your cot?
Steve71 sounds good on the food!!
I will be bringing my Dryad Windtalker 54# @ 28in.(glass bow blank). Unlike others on here it is my only bow...and a killer. I will be shooting 2018s with 125grain BHs (magnus 2 blade, snuffers).
-
Lefty...if you have an extra that is.....
-
BEn,
I have a cot you can borrow. Just swing by and pick it up before the hunt.
Mike
-
Not sure what I'll shoot yet. Either the longbow with the mammoth ivory on it, or my 54lb'er.
If there is an open spot on the floor, I can just bring a bedroll. Unless I get a cot by then.
I aint picky about food. Nothing from a grill or a dutch oven has ever been nasty tasting. Cast iron makes things taste better. May supply some of my own food, though.
Whats the jackrabbit and rattlesnake population like on your place? Targets of opportunity are half the fun!
-
I will be shooting a 58" 53@28 Centaur but will bring my 58" 53@28 Shrew Samaria. Shooting Vapor Carbonwood 3000's with Snuffers.
-
Guys, I met Steve at the trad archery range here in Ft. Worth yesterday. He's a really nice guy. I think all will enjoy this hunt very much.
-
Lefty..sent you a pm
-
Thanks Mike...hope to see you at the hunt as well, would love to hunt with you guys. Going to take the Windtalker out and fling some arrows!!
-
Hey all... I will be hunting with a Morrison ILF 58" 50@28" lbs, with either Hoyt or DAS limbs. Will probably bring my Nomad as a back-up. Shooting MFX 500's, around 530 grains with a sharp 2-blade at the killing end.
Hog hunting is TONS of great fun and it can be quite a challenge trying to keep from being winded!
I am from a family of 7 kids and will eat most anything except coffee grinds or bannana peals.
Pac and I are planning to drive over from Central AR on Thursday evening and leave Monday morning. I am READY TO ROLL and looking forward to making some more trad friends!
-
Jim,
I'm also an old Jarhead, but we like to keep the old wake-ups in our subconscious whenever possible.
I still have flashbacks of the Summer of 81 and the crashing trash cans @ Parris Island.
-
Buckster has spoken for my extra cot.
Got to remember to bring the camera.
-
I am bringing my Mathews Switchback XT Compound Bow 70 lbs 30 Inch Draw with drop away rest and 8 pin Fiber Optic sight LOL! NO! Just Kidding! Don't own a wheeler anymore, not that I am against them. Too each his own and I respect all ethical hunters.
I will use my Bob Lee 60" TD Longbow or my Thunder Mountain Coyote Longbow with G/T tipped with razorheads or 2 blade magnus.
I won't need a cot, I will be so excited I will not be able to sleep LOL!!
Thanks Steve
-
WOW!!!! Not sure what to say except THANK YOU STEVE!!! Think I might fly down and rent a car once I'm there but my plans aren't etched in stone. I'm like the other guy in wondering how I'd get the meat home if I fly. That could be a problem, not sure.
-
Morrison Shawnee w/ Dakota limbs 56# @ 28". I haven't decided if I'm flying or driving.
I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and stirring up some pork!!!

How about dry ice and UPS? Hey Steve, what are the latrine plans?
Also, here's a question I've wondered about. Why are Aussie and New Zealand hogs so much more aggressive?
A better look at the kill zone on hogs. If the site is up.

I am planning on driving for the May weekend and I am willing to pick people up from the airport if needed.
-
Meat on the airline is not a problem. Bone it out, ice it down in a cooler. No dry ice on an airplane.
Pay for an additional bag on the way home.

Does altitude affect it or is it just that it is a chemical?

Actually you can make a pretty good bomb with dry ice. I think that's the reason. Do a Google search on dry ice bomb and you'll be surprised.
LOL
It's on the list of things you can't have in your luggage.

Chester, I will be flying in for the May weekend and would definately appreciate a ride from the airport. I am going to book the flight this week, it looks like I will be getting in about 7:30 in the morning, so I can hang out there until you come by. This is so exciting, why does it have to be so far away!?
-
Dry ice bombs are crazy powerful! I used to work at a grocery store when I was a kid and we'd scoop dry ice into a 2 liter bottle, then add water over the top of it, screw the cap back on and pitch it out in the loading dock. When it went off, it was indeed spectacular!
I've seen guys pack their coolers with ice to the brim just before getting to the airport, then ductaping the lid down as tight as they can get it, and the meat survive a pretty long flight.
I'd help if the meat was frozen solid maybe overnite beforehand, I'm sure, though.

Really ice is fine on an airplane. Heck I've brought unfrozen meat back from Idaho with and Ice bath driving for two days and it's fine.
Just get it boned out and cooled ASAP and put it in an ice bath. Drain off excess water and add a little ice before you check it in. Keep it under 50# if you can to avoid overweight charges.

I live in Ovilla about one hour from Weatherford. Would love to help you with your problem. My bud, Ric O"Shay (Danny) would certainly tag along. He is real good at hauling dead things out of the brush. :bigsmyl:

Does anybody else think that we need to make a post for each weekend? That way things like people needing to get pick up from DFW are covered in the right area? Or other things that people will need just for that weekend they are coming?
If anybody does not/can not take all of their meat back with them I would be willing to take it and donate to Hunters Harvest (http://www.huntersharvest.org/).

Oh yeah I will be shooting just my plain Bear Kodiak hunter or the Martin x200 that I have. sorry to be so boring.
-
I agree that we should get a weekend post going so that we can contact the people we are hunting with, I keep looking back to page 7 to see who is on the May trip! BTW, what do you put your arrows in to get them on the plane?

Pseudo pig. Hopefully, it's not what's for dinner.
Made this a few minutes ago. I tried to make a reasonable likeness in hopes that it will help with practice and when the time comes to get Porky.
Wish I had some kind of 3d pig but this will have to do for now.

Steve
My thoughts go out to your Wife and Family. I truly hope she is doing ok as well as all those involved. That can be a very tough situation, and hard to deal with, I wish all the best.
Congrats on the new bow, I have not had the pleasure of trying a Dryad, but have heard very good things about them!
Thanks for makeing the two threads, that will help out alot.
-
I have held and drooled over Mike and Jason's bows and I have fought the urge to shoot one because I know I will be handing over some money I need for other things.
It is an eight hour trip for me (one way) and I am planning on driving down on Friday and leaving around noon on Sunday. I'll bring my camping gear along.
I will bring a BBO and my Curly Hickory longbow. I need to get some arrows made if I can find some time.
Be nice to meet everyone.
