I ALMOST stepped on this joker. RC had already walked by him and got him riled up. I don't think I would have seen him if he hadn't showed his cotton-white mouth. I fed him a judo right down the pipe.

GREAT SHOOTING GUYS!! that white mouth was a good spot to concentrate on:) you gotta loves those kinda days afield, even if its just an hour or so.

Great pics.
Awesome!
Chris, I was just about to comment on the snake boots when I scrolled down to your post. Dang cotton mouths don't have the sense that a rattlesnake does to hibernate some! I guess it is getting warm enough to look out for about all of them.
RER bows is going to be at the TBOF shoot, Chris. Just in case you are wanting another one...
Great picture of the turtles on the back of the gator. Reminds me of that old Frogger video game.
Congrats
That pic of the turtles is really neat.I would'nt think they would do that. Isn't nature grand.
Is it true that cottonmouths will come at you?
Great pics...looks like a great time was had by all except maybe the Cottonmouth and rabbits :bigsmyl:
How do ya figger it was a good day you almost got killed twice in one hour.LOL good shootin way to stay alive!!! thanks for the pics. keepem a comin..
Looks like a good hunt. Good job!
Very cool pics! BTW, nice Predator recurve too.
Good shooting all-round!
Great pics...you gonna skin a new bow with that cottonmouth?
"Is it true cottonmouths will come at you?"
Yep!
Boy you fellas can keep the snakes :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared:
Great shot on the snake. :p
Yes, a cottonmouth will come at you.
That was a nice shot on that bugger. I normally leave them in tiny, indistinguishable peices. And that's only because it wouldn't be right to burn down the entire woodlot. ;)

Yep and Water Moccasins will too..I've had them try and get in the boat a few times. Especially if you mess with them.
Notice the eliptical pupils on that snake.. Dead give away, he's the real deal..
Most non poisonous snakes have round pupils.
I think all pit vipers in the US have the eliptical pupils.
cottonmouth and moccasin are the same thing aren't they?
great job guys...i never seem to be able to put just one arrow in a snake... I usually end up freaking out and sending my whole quiver thinking "How am I gonna get that arrow back...fftt crap.. how am I gonna get that arrow back... fffttt crap.."
It ws kinda cool yesterday morning upper 40`s .The cottonmouth was sunning and still a bit sluggish or he may have tested my snake boots. I stepped right beside him.WE were crossing a slough walking logs and I reached for the top of tree for balance. I looked at the top because I once almost but my hand on a cottonmouth coiled like that. I should have been looking at the bottom as well.Water moccasin and cottonmouths are the same .Often confused with the harmless but make you wet your britches water snake.RC
All around exciting day, I would say! Thanks for the pics and taking us along.
Way to hold it together on that snake..
Thanks for sharing. It is up to a balmy 28 here. Walking in at 23 this morning I almost didn't need a coat, but hunting opportunities are scarce.
No thanks......no snakes here - no skunks - not many spider either

COOL SHOT on that snake. Not a bad day afield either.
