Title: Pic of the place I grew up

I went home to visit last week for 4 days and us kids (My 2 sisters, brother and I) used to play in this oak tree.  This is my older sister and I in the pic. Those were some great times back then.

The area is in Northern California, west of Yosemite.  A beautiful place, lots of cedars, pines, serveral types of oaks, blackberries (not the cel phone) abundant game, It's perfect there.  It's what I hope Heaven is like.

But I can't go back.  Not permanately anyway.

I love those big old oaks.  They say a lot about the place they live.

  :D

I forgot to mention that part; it hasn't changed much; infact there's less people living in the area now than 40 years ago.  The biggest change is some of the trails that I made by wondering those woods all those years are grown over, and there's lots of new trees that have grown since I left.

Mike, I know the feeling of not being able to return permanently. I grew up in SE Oklahoma and miss the beauty of that country near the Ouachita (washata) mountains. Went home in '02 and will probably not go again for quite sometime. Married a Oregonian woman, and have got a great family here in the NW.

Thanks for sharing a part of your life with us.       It got me to remembering.

TW,

My brother grew up here in Oklahoma, married a girl from Oregon and has lived there for the last 30 years. He has never wanted to come back here permanently either.

You could build a real treehouse in that one.

The reason I can't live there again is because in my family there's a few with some health issues and the closest hospital is an hour away.  Sometimes in the winter up there, that hour can turn into a day or two quick.
