I have a 1960'S all fiberglass Bear Gray Fox. I'd
like to let my daughter shot it, she's ready for a
bigger bow. Is it safe? Thanks, Brice
So long as there are no cracks those bows shoot forever.
Thanks vermonster13, the bow is in great shape,I'll get a string for it.
My Green Fox is still going strong! (As strong as 25# will get...!)
Killdeer
My first "real" bow was a "Red Bear"
I made my first "traditional" kill with that bow.....
Old Mister Gray Squirrel started to scamper up an oak tree.....I pulled a store bought Bear cedar arrow(spine unknown)tipped with a green Bear Razorhead out of my back quiver.....drew back and let'er go!!!!!
Pinned him right to that oak tree!!!!!
Ahhhhh, The Memories.....
I share similar ones Chuck. :)
"Is it safe?"
Isn't that what Lawrence Olivier kept repeating to Dustin Hoffman in 'Marathon Man' before he commenced to giving him some free dental work?
Sorry for the sidetrack, I couldn't help myself.
I wish I still had my "Blue Bear" and "Red Bear" bows, but atleast I still have my Herter's Model Perfect Sambar (or Sitka) Junior. I can never remember which and I'm at work. Good memories, especially of my first kill (a robin I had to hide from Dad) and first big game (a raccoon I bounced an arrow off him, right between the eyes). I also remember using the Red Bear with arrows with a corn cob on the ends, and shooting our sheep in the pasture. Dad caught me and I got a beating for that one. Where was Dennis Kamstra when I needed him. :) Ha.
Great stories guys. These old bows are a piece of our history, and started the fire within for many of today's archers. That's why I want to hand this one down to my daughter, and someday she will have stories of her own. Thanks again everyone
