Went to the swamp this evening after Pork. Was hunting Tippets Pronghorn again. Decided to name it "Doc" in his honor.
After a loonnngg loop I heard a pig squeel. I caught the wind and headed for`em. Finally saw one then two then a bunch. They were feeding at a fast pace headed for a deep slew. I circled in front and eased up to the edge. Peeked over and saw two boars side by side pushing each other. An unseen pig to my left caught my wind and broke. The two boars stopped fighting and stood still. I knew the gig was soon to be up so I Brought "Doc" to full draw and sent a hungry snuffer on the way for the 18 yard porker. The hit looked good and pigs scattered. I waited a few minutes and took up the trail....

I recon you can call it a "pass thru". I got my pack out and started Womack`n this critter and putting him in the pack. Thats short for field quartering for you fellas that don`t know. And while doing so I hear some more pigs.....and 30 minutes of daylight left .RC

 :archer:
Nice shooting... I wonder what happens next.... :archer:
Great job!! I think a blind man coulda followed that blood trail. YEEE HAW!
That Pronghorn named "Doc" is just the right medicine for pushin' those Snuffers through porcine biomass....
What is the total weight of your arrow?
Thanks and I am lookin' forward to part II....
RC i love your stories. Short, sweet and full of critters. As said before you are a hog killin machine. I thought snuffers got poor penetration LOL! :notworthy:
Well, I spotted another porker and got close. As if on cue the pig turned sideways and "Doc" hit full draw.Whack...another blood trail.RC

That pig hunting sounds like a lot of fun I just have to try it some time.
RC - It looks like another pass through with the yellow-fletched arrow lying on the ground to the right of the bloodied bush....
After about a 30 yard blood trail I found porker # 2 for the evening.Actually could have shot another but I had one in my backpack boned out ...another to bone out and over a mile from the truck.killed a triple a few years ago and thought I was gonna fall out before getting them out.

 :clapper:
That second one is a nice smoker pig :goldtooth:
Very cool indeed!
RC could you give us some spects. on your rig and weight of your arrow. I was wondering what you needed to use to get those results.thanks for the storie and pic.
Specs are several posts back Plumber.
RC, I'm getting way behind! Normally I can at least draft you somewhat. :)
Womack, that is a name I haven't heard in a while or seen a post from, I wonder what Warren has been up too? Probably still stacking deer up. I really wish we had pigs up here. I would give up deer hunting in a heart beat if I could chase pigs!
I figured Womack was a reference to the hospitle at Ft Bragg.LOL. Nice post. I hope to get back down soon, and glad to hear your set up. I'm planning on trying my 47lb and now I know it'll get the job done. Don
RC, great pics, congrats!!!Big Ed
Great job. Would love to do some hog hunting. Might have to talk my wife into a trip somewhere there are hogs, and nice nearby hotel for our April school break.
great job, RC....
sounds like Doc is a "keeper" :bigsmyl:
:campfire: :archer:
Thanks Fellas.
Maniac , Holler at me when you come down I`ll be glad to get you started out in some good spots.RC
I can't wait to go shoot some pork. Nice Job
Fantastic hunt. Makes me wish we had pigs up here too - but I'd really catch flack from Momma then... she only sees me 9 months out of the year now!
:clapper: :coffee:
 :notworthy:
This was an enjoyable outing. Thanks for sharing RC!
Hope to hear another hunting story like this in the near future.
Keep the wind in your face, Shinken
Good job, again! Your new year's resolution must have been "Kill more pigs in 2009!". I'm looking for an opening in my schedule to get down your way for a day or two within the next several weeks. I like your phrase "hungry Snuffers".
Fresh pork sure sounds good! Good shootin!!!!
Move south young man........
Just like fishin' in a bath tub for you, ain't it RC! :notworthy:
RC, Must be that Good Southern Livin' cause "Doc" never shot that well for Me :D I gotta get in touch with you when I head down to Aiken. Great stories! Thanks...the other Doc
Very nice, thank you!
Good idea about boning the hog out and continuing the hunt.
well done , Congrats :0)
As a bowhunter the first pic says it all. Nice hogs, and this really fires me up for my Fl hog hunt at the end of Feb. Thanks for posting.
nice shootin bud!
RC, you should start a guide service specializing in spot/stalk bowhunting of public land GA porkers! I bet more than a few Trangangers would pay to tag along with you for a few days, assuming that they could keep up.....
Man, I wish we had hogs up here. They sure do sound like fun! Looks like a great way to make bowhunting a year round sport. Way to get 'er done on public land, RC! Matt
- How much public land with good hog numbers is there down in Georgia?
