IAM SOMEWHAT NEW TO TRAD. ARCHERY AND DONT HERE TOO MUCH ABOUT FOOTED SHAFTS WHAT IS THERE PURPOSE IS IT JUST FOR FLARE? WHAT TOOLS WOULD I NEED TO DO THIS. IWOULD LOVE TO TRY THIS. THANKS.
Plumber... shafts can be footed to strengthen the front end to avoid breakage, to bring the balance point of the arrow forward and improve shooting characteristics, or even to repair broken arrows. The fact that it looks cool is just a by product.
You can get by with simple hand tools. A saw, a thumb plane or small block plane, and some sandpaper.
Just a hint... turn off the caps lock on your keyboard. All caps is hard to read.
