Lol!! No McDonald's. ;) Actually he should of weighed allot more being he hardly had any fat on him. With the size of head he had and the little fat he had he should of easily been a 400lb bear. He measured out at 7.5 feet long. I shot that bear back In 2000. I shot the buck In 2007, October 24th to be exact. Thanks for the congrats, I'm still on cloud nine with both of the animals. That buck of yours Is Incredible, that's what dreams are made of right there!! Well done and congratulation's to you!!
Wow Jonsimoneau, great looking bucks!! You've done well!!
Here are a couple of muleys. The story of these two is in the Dec/Jan TBM.

Ryan, I read the story on the Iowa buck. Are you holding out on the Indy one? :saywhat:
Ryan
Great bucks, congratulations. It has been a while since Texas.
I should draw Iowa this year. Talked with your dad last night.
Good hunt'n, Dennis
Nice critters everyone!!! I never get tired of seeing some of those pictures even though some have been posted a few times. My new favorite is the bruiser of Ben's! Here are my old go to pics. I would conservatively estimate that I have posted these about a billion times! :biglaugh: I wonder if a guy can wear out those megapixel dealies by posting too often?

Hey, even if they have been posted before, lets see them again. Great pictures you guys. Kind of gets the old heart pumping just seeing the bruisers you tradgangers have nailed. Jim
Man, I don't think we have them that size around here. Awesome buck's guys
Mike
Not much of a story on the IN buck..but there never is when things finally go right. Just suffice to say - hanging around with the chicks can get you in trouble. He followed a doe under me and the arrow ended up stuck in the ground 7 yards from my tree after it went through him.
The dude that checked him in at the checking station said "Wow, that's a good buck. Most GUN hunters would even be happy with him." as he looked at me like he felt sorry I couldn't afford a shotgun or camo.

Awesome animals, guys. I hardly even see any that big where I hunt let alone arrowing one. Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful buck there Rod, congrats!
Pete, what the ... my god, those things look like a whole different species! I really love those big necked, heavy bodied bruisers with lots of mass. Evidently, you know where to find em. :notworthy:
Pete my son says my deer are looking small, and he would like to join you.
Great picture and buck PICKNGRIN!!
All right Pete, what state are all of those taken in. All with bow? Those are absolutely bruisers!
great deer guys very nice!
Pete...OUTSTANDING
Man those pics are amazing!!! It seems I need to move up north!
I shot my first deer in December. It was a doe and I shot it with a gun, but I'm hooked and hopefully next year I can take my bow out.
I write this doe off as an opportunity to figure some good venison recipes.
Thanks for pics,
Keep'em comin
Dang Pete, I bet those deer don't wait for the acorns to drop to the ground to get at them!! HUGE BODIES! How do you drag them?
GLENN
I am not the man...that title goes to Gene, Barry and Roger Rothhaar. i grew up reading those guys. those humble guys have contributed so much to this great sport. any one of those guys could have sold out and become "ho's" of the industry like so many of these wanna be's you see on the outdoor channel, or these guppies you see on reeeltree paying big $ to kill a deer that has been pegged for them all summer long on the milk river. ever read Genes account of his pursuit of woody? (damn that sounds kinky) from what i recall he had several close encounters and then shot gun season rolls in and he still hadnt put that big deer down. many wouldve picked up the iron and shot that deer. how many times have you watched a "reeelbark" video and one day the "pro" is out bowhunting but just cant seal the deal so the next day he goes out with a gun...what a joke. is that all its about?? big horns?? to some it is. sad. its awesome to come to a place like tradgang and escape that BS. to come to a place where its not about quantity or size but rather how you get it done. AWESOME pics everyone!! just called the weather man. its ZERO degrees out. its time to take the boys scouting and maybe find a shed.
Great pictures!! How about some stories to go with some of these pictures. Jim
Here's an eight I took this year.

Here's one for you Gwen. Not as big as some but not bad.
Bona
I was sitting in a thin clump of brush, back against a smallish black locust tree. He came in from the right and 30 yds out. Outside my comfort zone. He then proceeded to walk away from me toward a treestand that I thought about sitting in that evening. I scrambled for my grunt tube and grunted three or four times progressively louder each time since he wasn't responding.
He finally stopped and turned around looking in my direction so I made a doe bleat with my hands cupped around my mouth in his direction. I also made a doe bleat with my head turned and a hand cupped around one side of my mouth to simulate a doe going in the other direction.
He started coming back my way! He was going to pass me on the right side so I got into position. If he got broadside he would be in my scent stream so I shot before he was quite broadside. He went <90 yds. I had still hit both lungs.
It was so cool how calm he was walking toward me. More often that not they come in alert for whatever reason. He is a beautiful, Kentucky, early season buck. Taken in Sept. Thanks to Jim and Becky H. who invited me to hunt at thier place.
Bona
Dustin Waters! Where do you hunt anyway?! :p
Bona
Somewhere between Illinois and Ohio....
For the love of the hunt.
Great photo`s one and all. Complete with a happy hunter with THE gleam in their eye.
There is a difference in the look on the face of a happy hunter who has killed a giant buck because they simply LOVE to hunt, and a "hunter" who has killed a giant buck simply for the glory of big antlers.
I can spot the difference with a glance, and I am sure you all can too!
For the love of the hunt!...the heart pounding, heart wrenching, never give up, love of the hunt!!! :campfire:

WOA :scared: :notworthy: Pete P is hunting in the land of OZ with Scary monsters that resemble Whitetail deer. Great trophies Pete.
All of you have taken some amazing beast, someday My day will come
(http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/5364/pictureonenl3.jpg) (http://imageshack.us) 08 Kansas 8 pt. 158 and 7/8 official gross score. Still smiling!
Pete here is my hunting partner who says he wants to hunt with you. (http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj10/longbowben/110.jpg)
So Pete, were all the bucks from Minnesota?
most from mn, one from wi and i shot a nice one in western nd on an unguided hunt one yr.
Longbowben, thats a cool bow! he can hunt with me anyday. one day he is going to teach you a trick or two i bet!
Greg, a few of those bucks were in a book called "bowhunting's superbucks" a couple yrs back. an outdoor writter contacted me, i had no interest at first but then figured it would be a good way to expose how effective traditional bows can be. we have a local outdoor writter who writes for some of the big name publications. seems like the whole bowhunting circle up here cant stand the guy...he talks smack about anybody up here who shoots a big buck.
This is my first 100 incher, an exceptional buck for public land around me. Not a hog rack wise but he had a big body. Took my a long time to drag him to the car. :D

I wish Flatstick would put his up here for ya. Several outstanding bucks taken with selfbows.
Its time to call out Flatstick ,Nice deer gang, and arwin nice deer public land is tough.
Hey, everyone, this has been great. I have really enjoyed these pictures and wit. Anyone else got some to show us, lets see 'em.
I kinda hate to embarrass myself after seeing some of these monsters ! Congrats to all who have posted. And I will have to agree with Pete about guys like Gene & Barry Wensel and Roger Rothaar, I read and re-read their books and articles year after year. They have contributed so much to the world of traditional bowhunting and whitetails without being overcome by greed and gadgetry.
My best "gross score" is just over 181 typical 12pt. My heaviest buck an 8pt field dressed 231 lbs. These and a few other "keepers" are all great memories taken with homemade bows & arrows.

Pete, holy cow! I thought you were the same guy that used to be on stickbow.com. Those bucks are absolutely amazing. Are those farmland deer, or are you getting up in the big woods of MN? You seem to be pretty modest. You're definitely doing the right things. Wanna give me some lessons?
They are big woods bucks.
i hunt mainly northern mn. i have hunted western ND 3 times and also northern wisconsin. one yr i "cheated" and drew a spot in an urban hunt. the zone they put me in was a joke...too many guys, people sitting on your stand, ect. we hunt 2000 acres of big woods. we let the little ones walk. if the timber wolves, snow/cold dont kill them they get big. my most serious scouting is now until spring. i set up on areas with a concentration of huge rubs....get as close to their bedroom as possible.
Interesting Pete. Are the deer numbers pretty low up there? I've been up there fishing before but never to hunt. Beautiful, but seems like a cold/harsh environment for whitetails.
Flatstick, incredible! wow, self bow buck slayer!
Jon, i sent you a pic, check your mail.
Keep em coming. Pete got any sheds yet? Score doesn't mean everything folks. Arwin that is a dandy for public land.
Flatstick-Don't be so modest, those are great looking deer.
Flatstick, you kidding? Embarrassed?! Those are fanastic bucks!! If you ever pass through Brown County stop by, please!
Nice animals everyone! I've yet to kill a big buck with my bow so nothing to contribute.

Pete,
If those are MN deer you sure as heck aren't hunting around my neck of the woods in south central part of the state.
You ALL should be very proud of the deer you've harvested with trad gear! It's not the size of the antlers that make what we do such a cherished memory, but how we do it! Congradulations to all of us.

Nice bucks!! This has been an eye opener for me. Jim.
Wow Skinner, that Is one huge body on that buck!! Wow!!!!
Steve
I had to throw out a piece of meat about the size of my fist around the back hip joint. Other then that, all the meat was good. Surprising considering that they towed away the Dodge minivan that hit it. It was right near the end of October (getting into mainstream rut activity) just a couple days before the shotgun season opened.

My biggest to date (2006). I missed a bigger one two weeks later :( .
