Title: Changing out rest/sideplate
Post by: mooseman76 on January 22, 2009, 02:09:00 AM
When you guys change out your rest/sideplate do you leave a channel between the two or just butt em up together?  I know the reason for having the channel, but is it worth the effort?  I have bows setup both ways and I seem to just do whatever I feel like on that day, but I'm trying to standarize the way I do all the "little things".  Thanks...Mike

I leave a little channel...most of my bows already came setup this way so I just stuck with it.

I also leave a channel, it seems to reduce bottom hen feather wear.

I think it's unanimous.  I leave a channel.

some speculate that the hen feather never runs through the channel because the arrow is in paradox, and that the feathers are actually riding out further than most of us think.  i have done it both ways with the same results. just a different angle to consider.

I leave a channel.  If you buy the round velcro it sure makes it easy.

Thanks guys.  My reason for asking was that if the feather actually were to run through that channel would it not wear down the finish of the bow?  Thanks again...Mike

Black Widow video and Ken Beck sets them up with gap, but shrews come with no gap...
