Can you convert a dish gripped Hill to a 2 piece? I am not talking about damaging an expensive bow so don't worry. Would a sleeve work?
Yes, as long as you have more wood in the riser than the inside dimensions of the sleeve. Difficult to get the sections into the sleeve straight though.
This would be dicey, in my opinion. Both of the sleeved Hills I've had, one with the small sleeve and one with the large sleeve, had grips noticeably wider than non-sleeve Hills. I'd have to see the sleeve and the bow, but it seems to me you'd be doing some kind of buildup to fill the sleeve, at least from side to side. Interesting idea, though...
Dick, are you going to the TBW Banquet? If so I would love for you to take a look and tell me what you think.
not recommended, they tiller them after the sleeve is attached. doing it after the fact is very risky and unlikely to work correctly.
I would go with a hinge on a finished bow. Way better odds for success.
