Here are a few ideas for field points for cane and hardwood shoot arrows. My friend Kenneth came up with the ideas and sent me a few to try. These points work very well and are a more fitting point for a homemade arrow.

For the hardwood shoot arrow Kenneth cut out a steel point(about 1/16" thick) that is inserted into the shaft like a trade point would be; A slot is cut and matched to the point. The point is glued in(I used TBIII), shaped and a wrap is added to the indentation just behind the point. I used artificial sinew set in glue for this.

For the cane arrow, Kenneth brazed a wad of brass to the head of a 16d common nail, put it into a drill and with a file, shaped the brass to a cone.
These points are glued(I used TBIII) into the hole in the cane and a wrap is added behind the point for strength. The nail shank can be cut to adjust tip weight.

I didn't have a cane arrow set up with a point so I used a raw shaft just for demonstration.
I used these points last summer for 3D shoots and have been very pleased with the results. They are very strong. I hope these give ya'll a good idea of an option for points for your homemade arrows. Pat
