Title: Testing the "Hammer"
Post by: Dsturgisjr on January 20, 2009, 11:45:00 AM
Picked up the new small game head from 3Rivers a couple days ago and tried it out after work yesterday.

I got some and they do work. Hammer another rabbit this weekend. Like them better than the Ace hex heads.

Nice!  I wish we had more rabbits around here.  We used to have lots of them, but not so much anymore.  Not really sure why.  Great shooting.

Jon,
If you don't have rabbits you probably have a high population of coyotes or redtail hawks or both.  When ever one of those two take over one of our rabbit honey holes the rabbit disappear.  Once they lay off the rabbits will come back.

Chris,
I have been shooting them for the last couple of months.  I think they grab the ground better than a hex on a missed shot and don't skip as far.  Thus I spend alot less time looking for arrows.  As far as put down power they are about the same as the hex as far as I can tell.  But since I don't connect everytime I shoot like Denny, I really like the fact that I have spent less time looking for my arrows.  ;)   dino

But they are close Justin.  They have them in 200 grains, add a 50 grain insert plus rabbits and you are good to go.

I've got some 200's but haven't had a chance to try them yet..

Denny, with that 90# bow you could probably stop a tank with the Hammer!!!

Good shooting ........

They seem to be quite a bit larger in diameter than hex heads.  Can you give us the difference?  Are they steel or plastic?  Do they make them in glue ons?

DB:  Snowshoes turn white.  Cottontails don't

Orion,
They are 1/2" diameter and are heat treated carbon steel, so they hold up alot better than the hex heads. They also cut better.

Thanks,
Boomer
