I got a hoyt dorado. I like the bow, it shoots good and it's durable. One problem I have is that the bow is cut about 3/8 to 1/2 inch past center. I know this is for using a flipper style rest but I hate em. The shelf is crowned to shoot off of it but what do you guys do? I have been taking leather and building out the sight window until I get center shot with my axis arrows. It seems to work alright but just wondering if someone here had better ideas. Thank ChadF
Just an observation, but if you choose to shoot a Dorado (I would love to have one. BTW) why would you NOT select the rest it was designed to use and shoot best with?
I fiddle around with a Hoyt Caribou (essentially the Dorado riser with long compound limbs so as to be finger shooter friendly) and get unbelievably good arrow flight & accuracy with a Center Rest Flipper...
Would love to get my mitts on a Dorado but have never seen on LH...

To complicate matters you don't want a bow shot with fingers to be "centershot". About 1 shaft diameter at the tip is the best starting point. You'll just have to look at the geometry to see what will work best. Thin wood might be a good base with leather or Velcro over that.
As flippers go, it's hard to beat the "Center Rests". I've never broken a wire but if you did, they can be changed in 10 seconds without changing tuning. The Plunger Rests were the best but they don't make them any more. I'd sure like to find a couple of them! :) ...O.L.
I prefer to shoot a bow off the shelf and just built out the side plate on the Dorado and Gamemaster I have and the use my typical velcro material for the shelf and side plate and it works well. I do as OL stated and build out the centershot to about a shafts width at the point and tune my arrows from there. Shoots great! Mark
Hey thanks guys for the replies. I went ahead and threw on a center rest flipper today. I do get great, perfect, arrow flight so I will try to learn to like it......I guess. I just really like shooting off the shelf, it's so easy to just toss an arrow up there and fire it. Now I feel like I have to be more carefull about setting the arrow on the rest. It's just in my head and I'm sure I'll get used to it. Thanks Again ChadF
