Hi guys
Just wondering whether you guys set your bheads up for vertical or horizantal on your arrows?
Thanks, Carl
Horizontal
Horizontal ever since I had the wind blow my arrow off the shelf while making ready to shoot a deer one Nov. day. :banghead:
Horizonal
Vertical
Which ever way it spins best. Pat
why not diagonal?
I'm with Pat B-Hap
However it ends up. Makes no difference to me, one way or t'other.
Horizontal, because I gap-shoot, and to possibly lessen any wind-planing if my arrow isn't perfectly tuned, as is the case on a dodgy release - Ken Beck of Black Widow suggested that on a tuning DVD.
But heck, whether horizontal or vertical or any which way, if it works, and you believe in it, go for it!
I'm with Rob on this one, makes no difference.
Leland
Horizontal because I can see what I am shooting at a little better.
O.L. Adcock says horizontal, 'cause your more apt to torque your wrist side to side upon release than to move up or down and it's much less likely to plane that way. So I vote horizontal.
I mount mine all horizontal,, the same degree as my cant so they end up vertical,,
Concentric to the axis of the shaft. I do not care otherwise.
I shoot three blade and align them iwth the fletching.
Mike
Horizontal. For no particular reason, just always have. I do 3 blades like Wingnut.
Steve
Vertical or diagonal,3 blade aligned with fletching
I do not pay attention to it much. I just tune the head to the shaft and shoot it. I like my shafts to spin like lasers. That is the only thing I care about.
verticle or diagonal

i do the same
Theoretically, vertical is more susceptible to being thrown off a little by a string pluck than is horizontal, particularly if you hold the bow vertically or almost vertical. I've been mounting mine vertical for many, many years and haven't noticed a problem, but I'm thinking of going to horizontal.
Why does it matter that much or at all? The arrow starts to spin when it leaves the bow string thanks to the helical of the fletching.
Vertical for 2 blades.
12,4, and 8 oclock for 3's.
The arrow does not spin immediately upon release from the string but it does move in paradox. In theory, I agree with Orion and mount mine horizontally... practically... well. if it works for you, mount them any way you want.
ChuckC
just sharp
If the arrow is spinning does it matter which way you mount it as long as you are not using it for sighting. Between the bow and the target the arrow will rotate completely a time or 2 and the broadhead spins with it.
spin em true and set the glue..............
3 blade, bottom blade vertical
I mount them 2 o'clock/8 o'clock.
Simply so my site picture remains the same.
I find that I am less "distracted" by the arrow head when I mount them this way.
Straight up vertical, or horizontal, and I find them in my site picture, but when slightly canted, as above, they don't seem to exist.
All I see is my target.
The same way the arrow is pointin'! :biglaugh: Well, some smart-butt was gonna say it!
Where ever it spins perfect is where mine goes
Vertical.
I cant the bow-so if either verticle or horizontal, it looks diagonal to me at full draw. if I mount them diagonal on a shaft-they are horizontal when at draw. Not worth arguing about.....
Horizontal.
Vertical,Shoot 4 fletch. And I just like the way it looks in my sight picture.
Prefer horitzontal, but truth be told it has never made a lick of difference how the broadhead ends up. As Otto said, If it's true with the centerline of the shaft, the arrow will shoot straight...
Horz. My eye does not seem to see the broadhead when it is horz. I can concentrate better on the spot without seeing the blade in my sight picture.
2-Blade - Horizontal
3-Blade - V Facing up
I just put them on.
Diagonal. 10 o'clock and 4 o'clock. I don't think it makes a difference but I do like to have the same sight picture. Gary
I've gone diagonal for years even when I shot a compound many moons ago. Used Bear Razor heads and have always had good arrow flight
I go diagonal so it's horizontal with my cant of my bow. Just gives me the same picture at the shot. With vertical, I seem to be distracted my the blade edge. Flight makes no difference...Doc
Used to mount them vertical, using the back of broadhead as a draw-check. I had a few exciting experiences with game when I drew back with too much "gusto"! De-strung the arrow. Don't do virtical any more, don't use the BH as a draw-check either!
Horizontal for two blade, not too fussy on three blade(W.W.). I usually mount the 3 blade opposite to the fletching(3fletch).
I place my two bladers so that they are at 11 and 5 o'clock when the bow is vertical.
This is to make it perfectly vertical when I cant my bow.
I prefer the 4 blade Ace and test shooting did not make any significant difference. I think I like vertical with the main blade for no scientific reason.
Im Like Ishi, Make them Vertical, then thell slide inbertween the Rids, :) I read in a book that Neither of us have figured out that the arrow spins in Flight. :)
When i was reading Hunting the hard way, Hill uses to make them vertical and when the back of that head touched the risor it was time to loos, it worked for him, but iv never hit full draw yet, :) :) :)
Either way, the point is still facing the exactly same way.
Agree with Rob, never noticed enough difference to be worth worrying about.
I glue them on without a second thought about orientation. Like Tony I just make sure the point is forward!
Most of the time vertical. If I overdraw the broadhead will touch my finger. Big Ed
Dang! Ya mean the sharp pointy end is supposed to go to the front!? :bigsmyl: :help: :jumper:
I think horizontal is best! So,what does every body think on a 3 blade like a woodsman???? :archer:
DT, I've always mounted 2 bl vertical and my 3 bl with one blade up...that way the site picture is always the same...but in all honesty, I don't notice the arrow at all when I shoot, so I don't think it makes a bit of diff....
......but "in my head" it does,if you know what I mean :knothead:
