An empty grain sack stuffed (and I mean stuffed) with plastic grocery bags. Stops my arrows within 3 or 4 inches. I guess, if you really wanted to get technical the cost would be the price of about two years worth of groceries.
I should add here, that this is a FIELD TIP bag only. Broadheads will make quick work of this bag.
I have made a similar type target out of burlap bag, bubble wrap and plastic bags! I made it in the shape of a deers body, works well! It takes a beating and shows little wear!
Blunts would probably make it last a little longer no?
No, blunts, at least steel blunts, will actually chew up the burlap faster. Steel blunts tend to cut the plastic more as well rather than pushing it aside as field points do.
yeah it is strange. Blunts do a number.
I'm using tarp and two $5 polyester pillows wrapped in 3mil. visqueen. Get about 4in of penetration.
The shrink wrap that they wrap pallets with works good for stuffing too.
Old carpet or what's left over from an install. . I cut the old stuff in strips and store it. Ge a big box from a furniture or appliance store and put the carpet over one side the face side in and the backingout. Then I use pieces of cardboard, old pie plate, pizza plates, pizza boxes, etc etc over the carpet for the actual target. You can draw rings, animals, etc on it.
I stuff the box with anything I can find, plastic bags, more old carpet old pad, packing, cardboard, etc etc. Arrows do not go thru.
Broadheads would cut it up more and be hard to remove. Use field point on this only.
Takes a lot of abuse, Maybe 100 or more arrows a day for 6 mos.
