Well I thought I had bareshafting figured out, but last night I found out I must be missing something.
I was shooting a 60" Griffin LB 53@28 I draw just a fuzz over 28"
I shot Vapor 2000's and 3000's both full length.
Some I shot with 100 grn brass inserts and some with 50 grn brass inserts.
I then changed out tip weights ranging from 145 grns to 200 grains.
All were showing too stiff! In other words they were coming out of the bow and heading towrds the target nock right, and when I would go to retrieve them, they were nock right.
Is it that they are infact too stiff or are some so weak that they show stiff :rolleyes:
I would have thought the full length 2000's with 300 grains up front would have surely shown too weak????
Anyone have some insight, it is really needed!

If you are canting (sp) the bow, try shooting it straight up and down a few times and see what happens.
If your knock set is not right it can sometimes make your arrow knock fly left or right.
I would bet it will fly tail high if you shoot some with your bow straight up and down.
yup, hold bow verticle. Bareshafting I ignore what the nock is doing or where its at in the target. Worry about where they group relative to fletched arrows.
What is the deflection of thoes shafts?
If you can't add enough weight to make them show any improvement,you are getting a false reading caused from the shaft hitting the riser.
Do you have any without the brass inserts that you could try with much less point weight?
I think you need .500 or .400 deflection depending on the ammount of point weight.With 100 grn inserts at least .400 deflection.

Yes I do cant the bow, so I will try it vertically. I could have my nocking point a little high.

The 2000's are .500 but not sure about the 3000's.
I will try some with factory inserts and lower point weights to see if I get improvement.
I may be hitting off the riser.

The .500 with regular insert and 125 tip should be close.
I don't know how much thoes shafts weigh.Just don't shoot less arrow weight than what the bowyer recommends.
If you can get a shaft a little too long that will show weak when you add more point weight than you want, or show stiff if you go lower in point weight you are set.Then put on the tip weight you want and slowly shorten the shaft 1/4 inch or so at a time untill it is correct.A little weak won't hurt because feather weight will slightly stiffen it.
remember to take the average of several shots before changing anything.
are you using the nocks that come with the vapors? I had to switch nocks to get better arrow flight, they were just too tight on my strings. I am shooting the Vapor 3000 (deflection of .400) 30 inches long, 145 grains up front out of a 50# shrew and they are flying really nice.
If I remember correctly the full length with factory inserts is too light for 8 grns per pound, and too light for what I want.
The nocks seem to be fitting ok, not too tight.
I will try what you are using Superkodiak and see what I come up with.

Looks like my nocking point was too high. I shot with the bow more vertical and saw right away what the problem was.
I moved my nock a little lower and they came right in. Still need some fine tuning, but looks as though it will come together.
