Port oxford Cedar. Ace hex heads. Stained blaze orange so that I can find them in the rare case that I miss. Yea right! (http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n132/jonsimoneau/DSCF0027.jpg)[/IMG]
oops. Let me try again.
I've been wanting to see these ever since you mentioned them in the last squirrel arrow thread...
nothing too fancy, but I think they will get the job done. I've got a dozen of them.
I've been getting back into squirrel hunting the past few years. Once deer season is over, I go nuts. Sure there is plenty of scouting to do, but I prefer to do this at the end of Feb. and early march. Squirrels are FUN!
By the way....I actually made those hex heads. I worked for ACE archery for a bit when I first moved back to North eastern Illinois.
That is too cool, bro...
Nice.
Those are too pretty for squirrels. A lot of my small game arrows don't even have matching feathers. I do like the hex heads. I try to refrain from shooting them skyward, although sometimes in the heat of the moment I forget. :knothead: Squirrel hunting/stumping is a great way to extend the season. Pretty good eating too.
You ought not lose any of those!
ya only made FIVE LOL ya must be a very good shot. Nice arrows though.
rusty
Autumn Oranges lol. I like them, perfect for squirrels and bunnies.
Any chance you could elaborate on making the heads?
They almost glow!!!
Reddogge, I mean I actually worked at ACE archery where they manufacture these heads. I made a bunch while working with the owner, and still have some! Great heads for small game.
You could find those things after dark!!!! LOL :biglaugh:

That should last an hour or two. :biglaugh:
Nice - can't see the heads though.
I use flu flu's for most anything besides big game (rabbits and under)especially if they are tree bound. I hate looking skyward and thinking this arrow could go 270 yards...hmmm where will it land...hmm
jer bear
Yea I know Jason, but this is just the first batch! I'm going to make a bunch more. Hardly anyone hunts squirrels anymore and the areas I hunt are full of them. I'm going to need tons of arrows.....or I just have to get better at shooting them!
What??
I can't hear you over your arrows.

I was at the same crossroads. I ended up making more arrows. :D
Man those are HI-VIS but even with them being that bright I would still make a couple dozen more. The woods have a way of eating arrows shot at squirrels :archer:
Looking good Jon! Hap
Nice job! I think the Orange color is a great idea. I may have to make some of those>
Thems purty arrows. I save all my bent aluminums and hand straighten them all year. I take a 125 grain steel adapter and slot it.Put a trimmed piece of banding strap in shaped like a Simmons Bleeder and loose them all in a week of squirrel hunting.
I don`t miss all the time. For New Years Dinner we had 16 fried squirrels along with a pork and deer shoulder. Dumplings, yellow rice ,green beans and sliced tomatoes with cornbread. Swampers Delight.RC
