Title: Am I Missing Out On Anything?
Post by: waiting4fall on January 11, 2009, 04:27:00 AM
For the last several years i've been shooting tapered wood arrows. 3 yrs ago i happily switched exclusively to tapered sitka spruce shafts, They fly great. However, during the same time i've been wondering if i would get better consistency, & performance with carbon arrows, & if it's worth it to make the switch. Also i've become fascinated w/ the lumenok & think it would be very cool to shoot those on carbons, from my Hoyt Gamemaster. I just can't decide. What's your suggestion?

To be honest, that is a decision only you can make. But here is what I did.

I to love shooting wood arrows, and have a couple dozen Hex Pins and Sitka Spruce shafts and arrows laying around, but lasyt year I started shooting CE Heritage 150 carbon arrows out of my Chek Mate Crusader. I love the way they fly, but I am now thinking of going back to my wood arrows.

I would say if your considering trying out carbons try a Beman MFX. Shoot your wood arrow then the Beman side by side and see what penitrates the best. For consistency, toughness and forced penetration, carbon is hard to beat. It is rad looking at that lume knock strike home.

LB is right. It`s up to you what you shoot.I go back and forth between woodies and carbon.I can`t seem to make up my mind.I like them both.Carbon will stay straight. But when the woodies break, they have a real nice smell to them. You can put the broken pieces in your truck to make your truck smell nice.

May be fun to try those nocks but I don't see consistency changing as long as your shooting quality wood.
