The St. Jude Auction is less than 6 months away. We all saw the great stuff listed last year. Have you started your jar for this years yet?
I've started collecting some items for the auction and done a little squirreling away for it.
It will be here before you know it and it's for the kids. Lot of fun too! lol
Oh yeah, I'm looking at my jar right now. I'm going to have to get more money in it since I want to be a contender for the Montana Elk Hunt!
My nephew now 24 then 10 was a St. Judes Kid, he was bless by God to be given the chance to be treated at St. Judes it is a great hospital.
But because I'm a newbie, I need you to enlighten me about the auction...Please... so I can start to fill my jar too.
Take a look here Glenn and you'll get the idea. The folks here have raised almost $250,000.00 for ST Jude since the Auction started.

Thanks... I got the picture. Problem is a jar is not big enough, I got out the 4 gal water jug. I'll be ready!
Mason Jar didn't work last year, I've switched to a 5 gallon bucket......have a number 2 washtub on standby
A #2washtub

Maaan, now why didn't I think of that?!
Your just to quick David :bigsmyl:
GREYBEARD is a Corporate Sponsor and has an Ace Hardware so PM him and he can set you up. lol
$100,000.00 this year folks!
yip $100,000 this year lets get saving
You are absolutly right, VTm; I started mine the same day the '08 auction ended (and I started picking up my usual little items to donate the day after I finished posting the ones I had for the '08 auction - LOL). I have to start early because it takes all year for me to save up a small amount. However, about every three or four days I empty the change in my pocket into "The Mason Jar" (Mine this year is a Panda Bear Bank that my wife bought me for the purpose.) Remember folks - every little bit helps. No amount is insignificant. If all the folks/members who can't get into the auction (to bid, donate, or heckle - that all helps too) would just send in 1-5 dollars cash donation, can you imagine what an addition that would be to our total in '09?
Here's my 2009 "Mason Jar" (I use my real mason jars to harden spaulted wood in - I retired them from storing moonshine some years back - LOL):

Good lookin' rascal isn't he - and he loves the St Jude kids too.
Might be a good idea Bernie, to start a heckle donation where you get to heckle someone for a dollar. Maybe even make it 6 for $5! Only in good fun and during the auction. I could save up some money for Whip, Pinecone, Doc Nock,....
You know - that might be a "capital" idea, owlbait! Terry and our computer guru, Admin Rob would have to authorize and set that up though - might be a logistic nightmare, with all the heckling that goes on (and a lot of members miss) during the auction - :D
(Geeze, wait - I'd have to spend all my funds on the heckling button - oh well, as long as it got in there. )
ttt - for St. Jude and the kids!
For the Sunday crowd.
I've got some projects to work on for the auction and have other items that I've been hanging on to just for the auction.
Can't wait..
That's the spirit! It's never too early to start.
I've already started setting some things aside for this aswell. I donated a few knives last year and the feeling I had inside when it was all over was priceless. This year I hope to bid on a few things aswell. SKippy
Just remember, especially if you don't have "deep pockets" your "Mason Jar" may very well be a life saver - for you, and a kid at ST. Jude.
Yep...time to start the reminders....thanks Dave....
Yep, even if you don't have a deep mason jar at least it helps. Plus it's alot of fun just to win something, no matter how small, or to help get that bid a little higher...
I bought a pair of used LaCrosse rubber snake boots off the auction for $30 a couple of years ago. I've used them each of the last two hunting seasons, especially when scouting in the spring and summer. Little things are needed as well. Everyone does not have big bucks to spend. Always remember that donations are also excepted. If a 1,000 tradgangers gave $25.00 a piece that would be $25,000. How many members do we have on this site? I'm a firm believer that everyone can do something to help the kids, some just more than others. But every little bit counts.
Wont be bidding on account of my new St. Jude's heart valve. :scared: ;)
But I think I have an item or two to list !
Yep, gotta second or is it third, fourth... whatever it is ya can't start too early getting ready!! It'll be here fore ya know it and it's gonna be fun again this year!!
I think there's about 18,800 members. If everyone gave just 5 bucks we'd be at $94,000 and just shy of the usual goal of at least $100,000.
And the auction items would easily make up the rest
Almost 19,000 members and I bet there will be close to 20,000 by the auction.
All the "silver" keeps disapearing from my jar! Kids are alway wanting extra lunch money, I guess. I will do what I can to help out this year though. I look forward to all the fun each year as the auction nears. Should be a banner year.
God Bless Trad Gang and the St. Judes kids.
Doug gave me an idea for a auction item for this year. Matter of fact I have a couple of ideas.
As a card-carrying member of the bid high and bid often club, "squirreling" just doesn't seem to fit my style. Now "hoarding" is a different story! :bigsmyl:
Claudia
Claudia is a contender on everything good. lol
So have you been thinking on what you'll donate this year folks?
LOL - whatever works fur ya, Claudia! You're always a big help financially and "verbally" - LOL
Only a little over 3 months to go people.
I know things are tight for most everyone so planning ahead is a good thing.
Do it for the kids!
