Title: Help me pick a CX Heritage shaft
Post by: IAOUTDOORSMAN on January 10, 2009, 02:27:00 AM
First of all I'm shooting a Hornes Traditionalist longbow.  I'm drawing around 55# at 29 1/2".

I wish to shoot 250 gr up front (100gr insert + 150gr screw in woodsman).  The shortest I want my arrow with my draw length is 30 1/2".

I have an arrow saw and full lenghth 150's and 250's.  I plan on doing the three fletched three bare shaft planing method.  I have shot the 150's full length with 250gr up front and they seem pretty weak.

Sooo... my question is.... can I get a CX Heritage 150 to be stiff enough before reaching or at 30 1/2", or should I start with the 250 shafts?

I also have 50gr inserts and would not be against shooting 200gr up front.  If I did this I would have to add a weight tube to the 150's to get back to my 10gpi.

I think the 250's will be your best choice also

I shoot 250's at 30" and I agree that you'll need the 250's. Half an inch can make a difference, so trim down gradually.

If you want to sell the full length, uncut 150's with their aluminum inserts, give me a jingle.

In fact, I have some new 250 shafts I'd trade for new 150's...

I think you're right on the edge with your draw weight/length.. You could probably get by with either if they and your bow was set up right.

250's 30 1/2" with 275 up front 100 grain brass insert 75 grain adapter in a snuffer. Total weight 650 gr. flies great from My 62" Tomahawk 54 at 28" drawn to 29".

Depends alot on your bow "center-shot". My Shrew is #53 @ 29.5". It likes 150's cut to 31" w/50g insert  and 175g point. Right about 600g total arrow weight.

Thanks to everyone.  Looks like I'll be going with the 250's for sure.

Sorry to disagree but cut to 30.5"s and 250 up front, I would shoot the 150s. You want them to bareshaft a tad weak. I believe out of that D shaped bow the 250s wil be stiff. I have done a lot of testing with the Heritage shafts and shot them out of lots of bows. Experiment a bit more before getting rid of the 150's. Shawn

I'm shooting the 250's at 30.75" 50 grain insert and 125 grain point out of my ACSCX 58&30". They fly better than any other combo that I tried from this bow.

I just set my Kmisha Shadow up with 150's... I draw 26" and shoot 47#. These bare shafted perfect at 28 1/2" with 50g brass inserts and a 175 point. I don't think the 150's are as stiff as advertised.

I contacted CX when I wasn't able to find anymore of the CX Terminator Hunter 45/60's.  They suggested the Heritage 250.

Well then... guess I'll start with the 150's and move up to the 250's if they don't work.  Thanks again for the advise.  I'll post my results when I get them.
