Title: Double Bull Mag chair
Post by: RC on January 09, 2009, 07:07:00 PM
Fella`s, I got a Ghillie suit and also use a pop up blind on occasion.I`m needing a comfortable easy to carry seat. The Magnum in three rivers looks good. Anybody got one? What do you think about it? Thanks,RC.

RC, I've gone thru alot of chairs but the one that Mike Mitchum makes is hard to beat if you can get one. Can't help you with the Magnum though.
Glad to see you're slowing down in your old age  :-)

How long/much have you guys used them? Want to compare your experience with all of the reviews I read on them.

I can not honestly address the DB Mag. . . but Scheels sells one with their name on it and it "looks" like the DB.  I got mine for $20 or less on sale in the fall.  Might check it out for differences. . .???

They have some that look close to the same in Cabelas but the one in three rivers "looks" better built with an extra back piece.
Biggie, I have checked Mikes chair out but for the blind I`m thinking it won`t work. Good looking chair. I`m hoping to run up with him on a hunt somewhere and check it out.Thanks,Guys.RC

Yup. . . Scheels does not have the extra back piece either. . . may be a bigger difference than first recognized. . .then again. . .

I use mine regularly. I modified the carry strap to go from top to bottom so I can carry across my back. Compact and very comfortable. I even take it to my daughter's dive meets and can sit mostly all day in it. Going to order another since they are sure to discontinue anything I like.

I've got both the regular DB chair and the magnum.  I got the magnum mainly for my dad (probably about 280+lbs) so he would be comfortable in the blind or just ground hunting.  Very comfortable and works well for the last two seasons. dino

I think a 300 pounder would still find it comfortable. If you don't I'll buy it from you. I'm around 240

I started out using just a cheap imitation because they were out of stock at the time. When my Magnum seat finally came what a difference that was. I have been using mine for over a year and still love it, although it is not perfect I feel that it must be one of the best seats out there. I can sit in it for long periods without back trouble.

Smaller guys (like myself at 170#) won't have too much issue with the standard DB seat/ knock off.  You bigger guys would definately appreciate the larger seat size of the Mag.  I think they're comfortable, the DB chairs are a little heavier and shorter than the knock-off.  The knockoff's tend to have ligter gauge steel in the frame and were a couple inches taller (of the two I found).  I got my DB chair before all the imitators showed up, still looks as good as the day I got it.  Packs down great and fits in the pack well - to be honest though, I use my LW HC top (very similar to the torge's rope seat) more than the stool, but sometimes the stool is the only thing that will work.
