Title: My Horne Traditionalist arrived
Post by: Stephen_D on March 09, 2007, 10:39:00 PM
She's beautiful. 66" longbow, shedua riser, red cedar limbs with bamboo cores, tillered for 3-under, 47#/28". It's got a pistol grip (with a thin rubber sleave) that helps indexing.

I've only been able to shoot it in the basement so far. (It's 10 degrees outside). At 7 yards the arrows are going right where I'm looking, and they're getting there pretty quick. Noticibly faster than my 40# Viper.

It draws very smoothly and shoots quietly with no shock.

I usually tire and get a bit sloppy after 5 or 6 dozen shots with the Viper. I got to that point after only 4 dozen shots with the Traditionalist. I think I made a good choice on the draw weight. Didn't go too high.

This is the bow I'll be using for Texas hogs in late April. Using 29" 1916 Gamegetter II's with Zwickey 135 gr 2-blade Eskilites. I'm also bringing Zephyr 160 gr 2-blade Sasquatches.

Congratulations on your bow. I have four of their bows, two "Traditionalists" and two Combo Hunters with four sets of limbs that interchange between the two risers. Great shooters and good people. You made a  good choice on weight and not going up too much. You'll find the bow will do the job well if you do.

Enjoy!
