Myself and a good friend, also a fellow tradganger(Wihill) went to our local archery range to shoot a round of video archery last night. We come strolling in with our longbow and recurve (proud as peacocks I might add!)to see the whole range is filled with about 40 or so compound shooters that were shootind 3d league. I noticed alot of "looks", some skeptics, and some very curious looks filled the bunch.
We went ahead and started shooting and having a good ol time, and had noticed there a couple of "onlookers" as we were shooting. As the hour went by the crowd of onlookers seem to becoming more and more. At the end of our shooting session we had what had seemed to be 15-20 people that seemed intrested how these 2 traditional guys were managing to shoot with no sights, rangefinders, binos, and realeases. We heard a couple of "nice shots" in the crowd as well as one gentleman that approched us and simply said " congradulations, that is definatly the hard way of doing things, that needs alot of practice...good job".
When we finished up we chatted with another fella that made the switch a couple of times, but is now shooting his compound, but there seemed to be a little fire in his eye when he talked about his recurve. He ended up saying "stop around again".
Were Wihill and myself proud? Thats an understatment! Its good to be a tradionalists!!
:bigsmyl: It can be fun to be the odd balls! Curiosity usually gets the better of most of those shooters and they have at least one stick bow in their closet before long.
Good for you! It's nice to see trad shooters willing to step up to the line when they are supposedly "out gunned". :campfire:

Yeah, but the real fun is talking them out of it.
It was nice that they were asking question, it shows they were real intrested
That's great...normally I get looks but they aint complimentary....not untill we bring out the swinging balls and they can't hit them...tee hee

This reminds me of when I was talking to a group of coworkers about my solo elk trip last year.
They were intersted enough until one of them asked about my bow. When I told him I was hunting with a recurve, his eyes lit up and he said to someone else "there's a real bowhunter!"
Of course I didn't get a elk, but that's another story!
What a hoot of a time that was. :D
Frassettor just wiped the floor with me on the video shoot. :archer: :coffee:
I did my first video shoot last sat.. It was a blast. I was shooting against my buddy, his brother and sister in law. I held mmy own first round, thying for first, but got blown away the second round once they got in a the groove. I almost doubled my first round score though. It was early so no other shooters around, but still fun. Keep up the good work. I am trying to bring my buuddy over, but no luck so far.
Nice going. I find a lot of compound guys amazed that a traditional bow can shoot an arrow straight and not fishtailing all over the place like the bow's they shot in summer camp.
Way to go Chris. Have you braced the samick?

No... I keep shooting my Kanati longbow becuase it's setup and ready to go. I've got everything setup to get the Samick up and rolling with the new limbs, I just need to kick my wife's car out of the garage so I can set the target up and get the arrows perfect.
(Translation - I need to get off my duff and quit being overly lazy)
