If you could pick any county in the northern half of kansas to hunt whitetails which one would it be.

Republic County has a lot of deer.

Here's the thing...EVERY county in the state has a lot of deer, and every county is capable of producing a Booner...but there is NO PLACE that they're tied up to every tree....

Populations are sparser the farther west you go, but they tend to concentrate on riparian cover and food source...farther east has more timber, more deer,  and they're more "scattered"...

Public access is better in the east, but there are more people so you're more likely to run in to competition...west is more open to a "knock on the door", although the outfitting business has tied a lot of ground up in leases....

Best idea would be to figure out the type of country you want to hunt, then concentrate your efforts in that direction....

Good luck

Yep,
Kevin nailed it very well...
I'll add that Kansas doesn't have the public land that Oklahoma has but they do get some land each year that is "walk in hunting". Basicly it's private land that they gain access to for hunters. The quality varies as do the locations from year to year.

PS....be sure to buy a game tag.  We need you to shoot a doe, and they taste good.  When you get frustrated by not having the buck of a lifetime walk by, it's still fun to kill a doe....  :bigsmyl:

If you can get on private ground, you've got more than half the battle won...and that area is going to be good, broken cover, hills, creek bottoms, and crop fields....sounds like ur set, go get 'em...
