The New York Times has an article today titled Bowhunters\\' Quest: Stalking an Elk and a Record (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/06/sports/othersports/06elk.html?_r=1&hp) . It describes the efforts of an accomplished trad hunter, Rick Duggan, to take a Tule elk for entry in the Pope and Young records.
serious? thats pretty cool, as long as they put it in for a good reason, not tearing him apart for...."killing"...
That was a pretty good article. The only thing that I would have liked to have seen was Rick finishing the deal on a Tule. Nice to see things portrayed in a good light though.
I just read the article. Thought that it was a great article that put traditional bowhunting mostly in a good light. Not what I expect from The Times. Felt a little uneasy though about all the talk about the race between Rick and Fred to attain the Super Slam with a traditional bow.
The New York Times has published many articles on hunting in recent years that are balanced, even positive, toward the outdoor values that many TradGangers share. They're worth a look and can be found fairly easily with a search engine.
