im interested in getting my first custom, and i like the price of the thundersticks. i cannot spend more than 550$ i know i wont get fancy woods or limb cores, but i would love to have a bow made like i want it. what do you think of the various thunderstick bows? how about hornes traditionalist longbow? i am interested in longbows, not recurves, so please consider that. thanks for any advice or comments!
The T-sticks are excellent bows and Jim Reynolds is a fine man to deal with. Another very good bow in your range is the JK Traditions Kanati.
You mention two great choices. Of course everyone will agree that if you can it would be great to try each (and others) to see which really cranks your tractor. Maybe you can hit a shoot or two this spring. A true custom will mean it fits/suits you!
As far as the fancy woods and stuff, I prefer the simple and understated look myself. Beauty is subjective. The last bow I bought had black glass because I wanted it that way. It is a looker!
I have owned the Thunderstick Mag and found it to be really nice. Jim makes a very comfortable grip IMHO. The MOAB would be my choice of his bows. The traditionalist has a loyal following and no doubt is a fine bow. The thing is, get the one you like. Start with the length you want and the style that pleases your eye, the grip that fits. Talk to the bowyers and ask them what they can do. Good luck and much success. The only thing better than receiving a new bow is the sweet anticipation of the wait.
