I have a dozen 125gr WW's Jb welded with the 75gr adapters from 3Rivers. I read Dr. Ashby's string about 75 grain adapter failures and tested 2 of mine. Sure enough they snapped off with minimal force! Now I don't trust them for anything but small game.
Anyone know of a reliable 200 gr broadhead?
ace...ribtek
Ishot 3 deer with the 75gr. adapters topped with 125 magnus 2 blades and on 1 deer broke the off shoulder and broke both shoulders on 1 deer shot them all with the same head on the same adapter and had no problems.
ACE Super Express
We have the Tusker Aztec 200 grain screw in heads. We also have the brass insert/adapters in 75 grains you could use in place of the 75 gr adapter your using now (if you're shooting standard carbons) so you could still use your Woodsmans.
Ditch all the 3-rivers 75gn adapters & just swap them out for the Kustom King ones. It's a pain inna butt, but worth the grief ;)
I also have the Tusker Aztec 200...nice bh imo.
muzzy phantom all steel.
I really like the looks of Abowyer broadheads. They have several models in the weight range you are looking for...
The 200 grain Razorcap is my go to broadhead.
Will using a 100grain adapter w/ the 125grain WW throw you off that much? Modify the WW into a tanto tip which will reduce the 25grain difference.
I'm a firm believer in building an arrow around a chosen broadhead. I do not believe in selecting a broadhead to fit a particular shaft. If it were me and I liked the WW, I'd switch to a more forgiving shaft such as an AD Trad, or dump the adapter and use a wood shaft of proper spine.
I'll add, if you are already using a brass insert in your shaft, you can shorten those to reduce their weight and make up the 25grain difference. There are many ways to skin the cat and use the WW if you like that head.
75gr adaptors failing? Which ones?
Thanks guys.
I've ordered some Tusker Aztecs and NAP razorcaps (pricey).
The WW are already JB welded with the adapters, and the shafts are already glued with brass adapters.
The 75gr adapters I have are from 3Rivers.
Steelforce has their new and improved 200gr, 2 blade, single bevel, traditional 3:1 heads out now. They shipped me a pack in late November.
They also re-worked the 300gr traditional head and it now come in a 275gr. I tried a pack of those too.
