Hey guy's and gal's,
I wanted to ask if any one has any big plans for bow hunting this up comming year? I know the economy is tough, and most of us are just going to stick close to home.
My wife's boyfriend (don't ask, long story) is originally from Edmonton, Alberta, he still has friend's and family there, AND THEY HUNT! His brother-in-law is going to send me all of the particulars. Hopfully I'll be able to cache some funds away and plan a whitetail hunt in the fall. If not this year, maybe next, we'll just have to see what happens.
Sounds like your long story has a good ending with an Alberta hunt in the future
No big plans here, just hope to get out and have some fun hunting.
We are starting off the year right, with a trip to Texas for javelina, etc. There are 5 of us trad hunters going. Will be pulling out on Jan. 3. Can't wait to get out of the cold here.
Start out with some turkey and bear this spring. Then antelope, bear, deer and elk around home here in the fall. And if it all comes together some whitetails in eastern Kansas around Nov. or Dec. I am undecided on whether or not I am going to put in for antelope and deer in Wyoming.
Turkey hunt Ky. in the spring and hopefully a Wyoming or South Dakota antelope hunt in August/Sept.
Pig gig with the Wensel boys and my other Tradgang friends; Bob Walker, Tippit, Imdiablo, Hogdancer, Hillboy, Eric, Lloyd, Whip-I know I am leaving some out of my feeble mind here but you must admit, there's a FUN crew right there! :jumper: A bunch of us will be meeting up in San Antonio on February 8th then heading 2 hours south for pigs and javelina! These are all Quebec Bear Quest vets too so we're starting to become a little traveling band here I think! This'll be a nice warm-up in any case!
Hogs, Hogs and more hogs. I do have two free round trip tickets for anywhere in US so if i find a good trad gang hunt some where i just might hop a flight.
Sheep and bou here at home, then elk and deer in MT, then muleys in SD and then rifle hunt w/mom in MN. She's 87 and got two this year.
Thank God I have a working wife.
Maybe head for Nebraska for a mule deer hunt with a cousin but mainly just turkey and whitetail around here.
Dennis
BUNNY!!!!! BUNNY!!!!! BUNNY!!!!! BUNNY!!!!!!!!!!
OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH YEAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! :bigsmyl:
Black bears in New Brunswick in May. Whitetails with good friends in November here in Michigan.
Hey, we have plenty of time for long stories :D
ive got a pair of tradgangers coming up from texas for round two on spring bears, I will be focusing on the brown kind while they will be after the smaller but just as sly brother bear,

Possibly a drop camp for elk!
Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I'm new to California so I'm for sure going to try my hand at some of those pigs that Kingwouldbe has been shooting.
I'm probably hunting in CO for elk again with Lone Archer, and 1 Hog hunt with Shiloh (SEPT) and one with Curtis from 7th age around June.
Anyone else that want to hunt with me and Curtis around June please let me know, I need 1 or 2 more to make it mo better!
Leaving for a 4 day bunny/coyote hunt tommorow to start the year off right. Then I'm thinking a 1st time hog hunt in southern Oregon this spring
Going to try for Arizona Coues deer and Maybe a mule deer at the end of 09, or the start of the new yr. of 10. My father in-law lives in Tuscon so I've been wanting to hunt in different states, It will be my first of hopefully many out of state hunts. Been buying up some gear already.
Pig Gig, trying for a spring turkey tag then the normal old elk, deer and maybe even antelope. :readit:
Whitetails, whitetails, and whitetails. Possibly Africa again also.
turkeys in KS. MN. and WY.
deer in MN.and WY.
My wife is pregnant, due in April, I'm screwed.

Actually you'll be getting the best hunting partner ever. You'll just need to invest a lot of yourself into him/her and your future is made.
I can't wait for my little guy to make his first real hunt with me.
For this year though hope to hunt with some of the northeast Trad Gangers this year and a few from elsewhere hopefully will be here in May to harass the turkeys with me.
My New Years resolution is to hunt more in 2009, so Lord willing I'll start with a Wensel pig gig with my Utah buddy Sean in Feb, some GA hogs and turkeys in the spring with my TBG buddies, some OH and PA spring turkeys with my son on some new properties that we just got access on, some Utah elk hunting for my son on the PBS youth hunt in mid August if he is selected, possibly alligator hunting in Florida in late August or early September with my buddy Terry if we draw tags again, some elk, mule deer and antelope hunting in either Montana or Wyoming in late September depending on the draw, and moose hunting in Wyoming in late September or early October with my buddy Terry if either or both of us draw tags there. Oh yeah, then I'll hunt whitetails in GA, NC, OH and PA to finish out the year. Might be a busy year........
Would like to head south for a hog hunt this winter. Have aleady laid plans for Pheasants in either Iowa or S.D. in the fall.
starting with pig hunt last week of Jan in Texas. Pig hunt with friends in February. Then Turkeys in the spring here and OK (we hope) then a summer of building bows. Sept we are in Idaho for a couple of weeks chasing elk. Hopefully Rusty (trashwood) will be recovered from heart surgery and be able to join us. Then back to Texas to chase whitetails and pigs.
Not much going on this year. LOL
MIke
God willing, evey chance I get. Deer, bear, pigs what ever comes up. Never know when you won't be able to go again.
I have been waiting tooooooooo long to do a real year of hunting.
Spring bears - Griz and black
Aug (our fall)
Dall Sheep, Caribou, Moose and hopefully I get drawn for deer and Elk.
That's the lot and I am going to be on horseback for most of them and take the Pinzgauer too.
Need to break in the new bows ACS and the Shrew
Jer BEar
God willing and the creek dont rise.
Me and my buddie Clay will be going to campwood Tx. chasing Axas Turkeys Hogs
:campfire:  :)
You will love Alberta.. I flew into Edmonton this past May to bear hunt. I sat next to two guys on the plane that had been to Alberta the past three years to hunt deer. It is a deer paradise. Beautiful country.
In March to the west Texas/Mexican border (I'm staying in the USA) to chase Javelina then in May back to Prince George,British Columbia to spot n stalk black bears.. I have a weakness for black bears! Thank the Lord I don't have to choose between them and deer...
One thing I'll be doing is chasing
Pigs in SC!!!!!!!!!!!
Deer season end here Jan. 31 2009. Then i will be turkey/hog hunting from March 15 till April 30. Of course I will hog hunt several different times as you can hog hunt pretty much year round here.
Spring black bear in BC June. Whitetail at a friends farm Northern Iowa 2nd week Nov. I hope I get lucky, can't be worse then 2008. Making some minor changes to improve my odds. Good Luck
Going on a moose hunt in BC this fall. Pretty excited since it will be my first and don't know how many more opertunities that I will have. May be a once in a lifetime. Good luck to all in 09 where ever it finds you. dino
Going to South Africa, February 16.
8 days of W/S in Kwa-Zulu Natal. :archer:
just started a two year working holiday in canada. every hunt will be a new once in a lifetime experience for me. would love to hunt bears this spring. not sure what i'll get to hunt. got to meet some of you guys. (hint) :archer:
Spring Turkey here in MI, and then it is a long wait for Whitetails in the fall. Funds are not going to allow much else as I have a bow on order. Will be looking at a unguided mule deer/whitetail hunt in the grass lands of ND hopefully in 2010.
Hope to finally get out of state next year, maybe New York.
Tough doing anything with a daughter in college.
Just do more Deer and Turkey Hunting this year.

Mines due in June so I had to cancel BearquestIII with the gang but I got to get a 'yote that is hanging around my chickens, then scout for turkeys and spring bear (in case I get drawn) and I am planning to hunt a new area for a trophy Roosevelt elk and maybe get a deer and bear this Sept. while I am exploring this new unit.
Planning on getting back to the Wyoming Bighorns this Sept. for mulies. One of the best hunts I've ever been on, and it's not just for the animals. It's just a great place to be in the Fall.
By the way, don't look at a new arrival as a setback. Look at it as a homegrown hunting partner. Mine's twenty-one years old now, and I still enjoy every chance to spend time with him...both in the woods and out. Enjoy yourself!
Well, i get to hunt a cow elk later this month in KY... So I am going chase some late season KY whitetail... Hopefully, I may just get lucky and get a nice one!!!
I gave up the lease, so I will be hunting public land focussing on some bow only areas and may use the money (normally woulda spent) to go out of state. What ever, I do... with 3 lil ones... I see my total hunting days decling this year... May see about chasing some wild pork as well...
Spring Turkey here in Michigan and Kansas Whitetail in November.
I have 3 days left here in IN for whitetail. I am trying to put together a early spring turkey hunt in Nebraska. After that, spring turkey and whitetail here at home. Good luck to everyone! Mike
Lord willing, I`ll be hunting local porkers, squirrels and rabbits till The last day of Febuary. Then in the spring more local pigs and Turkeys as well as a trip to some Ga. coastal Gobblers and pigs. Then I hope to spend two weeks in the Cohutta Wilderness area during bow season for deer , pigs and a bear. Then Horsecreek wma for porkers and deer as well as Ossabaw Island for a short 3 day hunt for deer and pigs.
Sweet thing about all this hunting is....it will only cost 19 bucks for access.PLENTY of Critters down South . I ain`t never been to Cohutta so it`ll be a challenge.RC
14 days left in bow season, then April turkey season and back to Whitetails Oct 1. Maybe something else if the opportunity comes up.
planning a 10-12 day video taped bear hunt in Canada (for a tv show) will be taking my compound and longbow/flint arras, maybe my homemade muzzleloader. Going to take my twin along. We are going to call it an Early Masters Degree present to us both. We worked our tails off to get our degrees, i think we have earned it.
We have about 24" of snow on the ground here in Kalispell today, but during bow season it was so dry that hunter success was very poor. I hope and pray for a wetter fall and an improvement in the economy so I can afford to travel out for an Elk hunt. Otherwise, my deer stand is out by the back gate!!!
I haven't made my hunting plans as of yet. I know I'll be hunting mulies in my own state but I'm also considering a muley hunt in Eastern Oregon. But we've had an unusual winter thus far. Before I make any firm plans I want to see what affect the winter weather will have on our muley herds.
I will likely be hunting Alberta bears in late May, and should draw my Iowa deer tag this year with two preference points. I am hoping to put together an antelope hunt.
Otherwise, it will be Nebraska spring turkeys, and fall whitetails, most of it close to home. Picked up a property I've not yet seen that may have some antelope and mule deer on it. Word in the grapevine is saying Nebraska may be changing some of their season/permit structure so am anxious (worried) to see what the changes will be.
Deer hunting until the middle of the month here in Oklahoma. Turkeys in April. Heading to Zimbabwe in July for cape buffalo and anything else I can get close enough to so I can stick it with a sharp broadhead. Deer again starting in October. I would like to get a hog hunt in there somewhere. Also, I will be doing some additional hunting with one of those firesticks, but I won't talk about that here.
Allan
Two kids in college so will have to cut back some this year.
Spring Turkey in NY
Carp in NY
Stingrays in NC
Hopefully, Alligator in Florida with Jeff
Hopefully, Shiras Moose in Wy with Jeff
Whitetail in IN
Whitetail in NY
Terry,
If that is a "cut back year" I'd like to see your full year then :biglaugh:
Turkey in Fl
Elk in Idaho
Whitetails in Indiana or NY
I'll prolly be spending alot of time hunting arrows in the grass behind my target. I am a newbie.
Gonna be giving the local walking pork chops some hell until October. But for now I'm chasing whitetails until the 31st.
The Kid

Otherwise it will be walking the woods whenever I can...

doug77
Pigs wherever and whenever. Blacktail deer starting in July and running through October. Turkeys this spring on one of three or four spots I have picked out. Hopefully some Elk in Washington around Thanksgiving or earlier in the year around September, or both!
I'm gonna hunt every chance I get till our season ends on Thursday!!!!!!!!!
Dave
Pigs anywhere I can get to, S.C. N.C. Haven't been back to Texas in a while looking at eastern(Chester) or/and western (El Paso). Maybe Sep for Black bear in Maine. Just renewed lease here in Va. Squirrels and Turkey
Since we've only been back here in ND for a couple years and considering we're in NW ND for the first time, and I wasn't able to hunt the first year, I'm going to spend a lot of time scouting the area I hunted this year and a little time finding new places to hunt.

I have 2 invites to Alaska for spring Bear and Caribou respectively. I also am planning to go to Amistad NRA for Javelina and Auodad Sheep. Any Tradgangers from TX wants to tag along on the latter?

Hey Longbow - I say fill your quiver with kids. None of mine shoot bows but they are great (even as they get older).
I plan on rabbits, maybe turkey, and squirrels in season. And of course I have to let the whitetails outsmart me. I get to travel most of Kansas so downtime for me will be hunt-time.
Cannot wait for the 1/31 Kansas Bunnie Whompin'
Well Rick Welch is coming to stay at my house & do a shooting clinic with me.
I may be able to make it back to AK in June, if so I will spend a day or two hunting black bear. Was able to see quite a few last year but no big bruins I wanted to release an arrow at!
After the Wyoming draw results come out I will know if I am headed there to hunt elk with the longbow. Fingers crossed!
Hey Mark, maybe I can make it to Texas someday and hunt the javelina with you. Always wanted to spot and stalk em!!
My plans are to go in the woods and make my 1st Trad. kill finally !
Planning to hunt Missouri whitetail and turkey on my good days but will be the camp cook if nothing else. I just love being out there as much as possible. Besides my hunting buds say I'm a better cook then a bow shooter. :campfire: :archer:
i am going to make my own bendy handled osage bow and kill a deer with it next fall. i got bitten by the selfbow bug a few years back thanks to mickey lotz and i have one of his bows and eric krewsons bows that i currently shoot, but this year i am going to make one of my own!

The team that I am videoing with this season has given me a few pretty cool opportunities for hunting this season. We are heading to Tennessee in March to guide a turkey hunt for hunting for a cure. I will then hopefully be hunting antelope in wyoming in August. The last trip will be to Pike county Illinois for whitetails in November. I'll also be chasing turkey and deer around here in Pennsylvania, and Ohio.
Hogs down in FL here in Feb, catching what the Stork's dropping off in early June, Bear in Canada (crossing my fingers on this one!), and hopefully sneaking in some fall turkey and white tail hunting in the fall. :help: Gonna be a full boat this year.
I might try and steal Frassettor away from his family for a weekend plus and see if we can head to the big woods for a couple days.
Hogs in two weeks, beaver if I can ever get away, and deer starting in July.
Whitetails in Alabama till 31 Jan.
Spring -Turkey in Tennessee and Alabama
Fall - Whitetail TN,MO,AL, and KY.
Elk in Montana if I get lucky.
Im going to Africa and hunting plains game in June. Then javilina hunting in Texas in July.
I have a Colorado elk hunt booked with Eagle Spirit Outfitters and I will be hunting deer and turkey in WI. I'm shooting everyday in preparation for the elk hunt.
It has been less than a year since I switched to traditional. I'm hoping to be able to shoot strictly traditional on this elk hunt and forever more!
Well come deer season I'll be in Texas. So far That's my big hunting plans. Do some Hog, Javs & Deer hunting, maybe a Turkey or 2.
Bobcats until the end of Feb, March trying to get out for a gator and hogs, April/May Turkeys, Aug. speed goats,Sept elk, Nov. Mule deer, And Bighorn/Mt. Goat hunt tossed in if I draw (getting close!)
