Hi guys :wavey: !
I'm new here, and new to the sport...
I've been storing the hide off of the first deer I shot and made an armguard last night. I'd like to share the photos with y'all and would love to see pictures of stuff you've made! So far I've looked at photos of home made bows, arrows, quivers, knapped heads and other incredibly inspiring stuff on this site! GREAT WORK! :clapper:

Beautiful. I'm not talented. Did you tan the leather also. Nice ;)
I like that arm guard. I got my first trad deer this year and I have the hide in the freezer. I saved it to make a quiver.
I was lucky enough to get a second deer and I saved that hide as well. Thank you for the idea of something else to make.
Nice Juan,at minus 20 degrees here it would be nice to wear this one.Good job!!
Serge
Great looking armguard.
JMHO..read my post in Home Made Equipment by Gray Buffalo.
Thanks guys!
Mel: Yes, I tanned this hide.
Pac: I look forward to seeing your quiver! That's the next thing I'd like to make. A new hobby!! Uh-oh! :knothead: :help:
Here is a back quiver i made out of a deer hide i had :archer: (http://i320.photobucket.com/albums/nn339/JDCOWLES69/****CD4500061.jpg)
i made myself a spare b/head carrier. its made from kangaroo hide i tanned myself using wattle bark tan. stipped the bark and all myself. i usually carry 6 arrows when hunting. 5 b/heads, 1 blunt. sometimes i found myself in need of a b/head for the blunt arrow. works really well. just straps onto my thunderhorn quiver. it's great to make your own stuff, it adds to the experience.

thats very Cool Clint, wattle bark tan and all nice going.
You know i was looking at my quiver the other day trying to work out a way of doing exactly that, also occasionally find the need for a broadhead on my hex or judo arrow but need somewhere convenient to carry it. Trusty old Black stump Bh
Oh great :scared: :readit:
Poor Jade... :campfire:
Oh, and nice armguard! Now I see what you were trying to explain to me, at work, over the work email system...Yeah, you're hooked!
tradtusker- i doesn't have to go on your quiver. you could change the length of the strap to make it go on the limb of your bow also. that would be the go if you don't always hunt with a bow quiver. actually if you make it to go on a quiver all you have to do is punch a few holes to give the right adjustment to be able to put it on the bowlimb. two birds, one stone.
UNBELIEVABLE!
I love you guys! (Except Toby, smart ***)

I made the bow I wanted to make the bow quiver. It was a challenge but it's just as good as any other bow quiver you can buy.

I wanted a hunting day pack like the CatQuiver but decided to save the money and make one out of what I had laying around.
I started with my old Cabela's day pack. I never did like the shoulder straps and waist strap that came on it so I cannibalized the shoulder straps and waist belt from my old Army Alice pack and mounted them on the Cabala's pack.
Then I took a 5qt. Army soft canteen bag and rigged it so I could hang it inside the pack against the back. Then I rigged a plastic tubing straw from the bottom of the canteen bag, up through the cap, though the back of the pack and down the right shoulder strap.
And last I took an old bow quiver and mounted it to a piece of leather that I could slide down between one of the side pockets and attached it with velcro.

ive got more that cannot be shown here: starting to build a muzzleloader, and making my braintan buckskins (mocs, pants, frock).
Made my own broadhead sheaths. Nothing fancy ,but it saved me about 50.00 instead of buying 6 of them. (http://i479.photobucket.com/albums/rr151/bones61427/100_0643.jpg)
I really needed a back quiver that could hold alot of arrows and not smash my new bamboo arrows turkey feathers. So this is what I came up with
(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i153/ozarkcherrybow1/bambooarrows-quiver002.jpg) (http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i153/ozarkcherrybow1/bambooarrows-quiver004.jpg)
I made it out of my first attempt at buckskin tanning. I really screwed up and the hide wound up somewhere between buckskin and rawhide! Well the hide was just stiff enough that I thought it would make a quiver. It turned out kinda cool and only had about 4 hours in it(after tanning the hide :bigsmyl: )
Dick, I really like your hip quiver set up, that is some fine work there brother!....Terry
