Title: Snake bites Morrison with Pics!
Post by: Bjorn on January 03, 2007, 01:58:00 PM
By now we all know this 'before'

After
 (http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q291/bjornweb/DSCN3358sm.jpg)

Some Satin from the spray can
 (http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q291/bjornweb/DSCN3359sm.jpg)
These are the Arrow Wraps Canebrake skins from a sponsor here. May not be the real thing; but rattlers are hard to come by this time of year even in California. LOL! I will let you know how they stand up to hunting conditions.

How heavy are those compared to real skins?Has anybody tested performance before and after?I know I,ve asked about skins and bow speed before and yea I know it would only be a few fps for real skins I was just wonderin if the vinal was heavier and would take even more away than a few fps.

By the way it looks real nice I,m only askin cause I like the look and was thinkin of doing something along those lines. It'd be nice on my Hatfield for sure

I didn't notice any performace difference after putting mine on. There very thin. Of course I didn't do any before after true tests either.

I have the real skins that Adam used for some of his canebrake skin-eez and the real skins will weigh many times more than his great product.  The skin eez shouldn't effect speed any more than another coat of finish would.

They really look like the real thing. How durable are they and how is the adhesion on the wraps?

Those are the key questions, aren't they? They look great after one day LOL!!
I will be very interested to see how they are this time next year, and promise to post a pic ;-).

I have had mine on since July, I put them the full length of my recurve. The only problem area I have had is that they have faded at the back of the handle (from hand wear when carrying my bow). No rips/tears/ or frays and I have put them through alot heat/cold/rain and snow! I will be replacing them for 2007 though for the price they give you good limb protection from scratches and scrapes.

Bjorn, are they real glossy?  Why did you ut the satin spray on them?  Looks very realistic.  I'm thinking of getting some.
Title: Re: Snake bites Morrison with Pics!
Post by: Bjorn on January 03, 2007, 07:05:00 PM
They are glossy and I don't want to call unneeded attention to myself in the woods. Also, satin will hide a multitude of sins; these 'skins' look pretty darn good and are very easy to apply. Unless you have the bow in your hands you likely would not know the difference. None the less, I am having a second set of limbs made by Morrison and he is putting the real thing on those.

how much material do they give you.wan to put them on my zipper extreme to keep from scratching the limbs carp shooting this spring.  :campfire:

This product comes in a set of 2" X 36" I dont recomend putting it on the handle area. This will wear down just like adeedens bow. I would say Limbs only if you want them to last. These are a long term temporary cosmetic touch to add to your bow. With some protection qualities to them as well. As for the gloss we have gotten them to the dullest we can without spraying a matte clear on them. They come more as a satin finish then a true matte. Please if you guys have any questions call me or shoot me an email

I put a set of the copperheads on my bow last spring. After a summer of tournaments and the entire deer season the only wear that mine shows is at the upper portion of the top limb. Now, this is not a fault of the product but a fault of mine. This is the spot where my stringer rests when stringing/unstringing so it has ate up the edges. I was wondering could you possibly use some spray urethane over them to make them just as durable as if you had went through the trouble of putting on the real thing?

I'm not easily impressed. But I must say they are very realistic looking.

They are flat and you can can put a clear over them.

Wow! I'm even more impressed now that I hear how long folks have had these on their bows. This application is not meant to compete with a 200 dollar Copperskin snake job by Morrison, Ted Fry, OL
and perhaps others. IMO
At the same time it is way better looking than many snake jobs I have seen, with faded and uneven patterns; (some of them are even on my own bow racks! LOL!!) and I did this job myself from start to finish in an evening, in between cooking dinner etc.

Thanks for the info guys.I plan on doing a refinish on my Hatfield more as practice than anything and this just may be the hot ticket to cover up the scratchs on my limbs.Speakin of those if ya ever take your bow out bowfishin in a boat don,t set it across both sides on the limbs it will leave marks LOL

After my practice job I,m hopein to refinish my Hummingbird to since it has picked up a few dings here and there but it,s not as beat up as the Hatfield which is app. 15 yrs old and used hard.

I took some krylon clear matte finish and coated the limbs to take the shiny sheen off them when i was finished.  I believe that really helped to "tone" them down a bit and make them look super realistic.  I will be ordering more a little later.  Thanks for a great product.

The wait shouldnt be too long at all... I actually ordered mine at around 830 Friday night through some emails and good customer service on Adams part and they were in the mailbox monday morning.  Thats Maine to Chicago in a day of postal service.  I was pretty pleased.  Ive just gotta find the right skin for my other bow now.

Once these are applied for awhile, and you go to replace them, is there any problem with residue, or fading to the original limbs once removed?
Title: Re: Snake bites Morrison with Pics!
Post by: Adam Mooney on January 11, 2007, 08:51:00 AM
The only residue that maybe left is the little bit of glue which comes off with mineral spirits or even alcohol. Just to let you guys know, Who ever placed orders with in the last few days, They will be shipping out by tomorrow. Ive been waiting on some material to arive and I shouldhave it today. Thanks again

I used Helmsman Satin spray from the can to dull the finish-and to me,it would be better to get it even duller, so there is no reflection from the sunlight. Any ideas from those who have installed the product? Adam from arrow wraps-you got any plans for a non-reflective finish-maybe even a bit of texture?
Thanks,
Bjorn

Adam, do you make any gear or just wraps and skins? If you make your own stuff would you be willing to help out a beginner? I live in western Maine and am looking for someone who is willing to share their knowledge of traditional archery

Here is a bow that I put the skins on front and back of the limbs. It looked really nice and lasted as long as I had the bow. For the money and ease of instalation you cant beat Adams product.

Thank you guys, and sorry I didnt answer earlier. I was in GA at the ATA show. What a blast I met a few TGers and wrote some awesome orders. I will look into the virus thing and see whats up with that. As far as my Skin-EEZ are concerned I am looking into a more of a Matte finish. If you want it even more dull dont use a satin finish use a matte finish. Thank you for all of your orders. I will get them out as fast as I can. Highlandwarrior, I make longbows also. Pete Ward just did a review on one of my bows. ADM Longbows.  ReviveOurHomes, That bow looks awesome. Thank you for posting it.

Thanks for the tip on 'matte' finish Adam. I sprayed some on my skins today and the result was exactly what the doctor ordered-zero glare.

I will keep in contact w/u ref the wood items I will be sending you very soon.   please PM me your address.   Also do not forget about the plans for next year at the ATA.

PS  Adam you need to add some pics of your bows to this thread.
