On another site I was talking about not taking myself so seriously when shooting my recurve. Josh-u-a and I were shooting in the back yard and I noticed my wife was filming us. I stuck my tongue out at her. I also wrote that to me trad is so fun because I don't take myself so seriously.
Of course when hunting it is a different state of mind.
I was foolish enough to post that clip on the other site. I was told to come here and find out how real trad shooters act like and how they hunt. I am told you folks are very serious.
No more horsing around on my part. Teach me how to be a serious trad shooter and hunter. I've been a member of Trad gang for about 6 months now and have learned alot. Guess the next step is to learn not to laugh once in awhile.
This is the offending clip. I show it only to show the depth of my off beat humor.

Around here people respect each other and are polite to one another when sharing ideas. Some may view that as being too serious. I guess I just call it good manners and following the Golden Rule. Chad
Isn't sticking your tongue out while shooting the "Michael Jordan" style of shooting. lol
If it wasn't fun, I don't think too many of us would still be doing it. I'm with Chad on this one, respect for our fellow archer doesn't mean we don't know how to have fun.
Pac,
I'd say the GOOD PEOPLE who make up the Trad Gang family are quite seriuos about their hunting and shooting but I can't think of any that don't do it for fun and have a lot of fun doing it. It seems to me that when you start to get too serious then you start to have less fun. jmo
Denny
coulda been worse than your tongue.. :)
Well I would gently suggest that you not stick your tongue out at full draw. Seriously ;)
i used to only go to another trad site for years, but listening to all the back biting and arguing proved those people to be real [URL=http://www.stick-in-the-muds, so now i hang my hat here and have never regretted it. also the layout of this website is alot better, more user friendly. we are a family.
You will be respected on this site. We know how to have fun. Because we have chosen a different path.
Welcome! Enjoy the ride!
Regards,
mel
The day you aren't having fun is the day you should hang it up. Welcome, and be yourself.

That could get serious in a hurry... :biglaugh:
Welcome pac, glad to see you made the change. This site is all about respect. No arguing here. :campfire:
:wavey:
Even here at the home of tradional bowhunting, we don't all agree on everything but, we try not to let stuff get personal and on those rare occasions that we start drifting, we have great moderators who whip us back into line. (they have real whips and actually beat us with them)! :scared:
Yes we are serious about our hunting and shooting but we also have a lot of fun. I didn't see anything even remotely objectionable in your clip.
No need to forget how to laugh once in a while!
Ron
Sure I take my hunting and shooting serious, but I have a lot of funn, and fool around sometimes when shooting. Cant be to serious all the time. Sounds like the guy's that told you that might need to take things a little less serious once in a while and have some funn.
Trad is 100% serious!!!!
1) I seriously cant wait to shoot
2) I seriously cant wait to finish another bow
3) I seriously cant wait until my new arra makins arrive so I can work on them.
4) I am seriously dreadin the end of deer season
5) I am seriously anticipating summer 3-d
6) I am seriously looking foward to meeting some Tradgangers at some shoots this summer.
IM SERIOUSLY WRAPPED UP IN TRAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D Seriously......... Trad Gang is THE stuff.........and I mean it, with a furrowed brow and straight posture and a really stearn look on my face............ :p :bigsmyl:

The King Say's: he's a serious bow hunter, Thankya, Thankya vary much
I used to visit that other site too. I still do once in a while, but it usually only takes a little while to find someone making nasty comments to someone else. That reminds my why I hang out here. The folks here are the best as are our mods. Here, you are either civil or your thread is gone in short order. If it becomes a serious problem, you are gone as well. I think this is rare though because of the type of people who tend to inhabit this site.
We do argue, but not like the politicians or those on that other site. We actually understand the meaning of argument: stating a premis and defending it with facts and supporting details. We don't always end up in agreement, but we don't let our arguments become personal attacks. We act like ladies and gentlemen.
Oh, and we do have a bit of fun as well!
BTW: your form looks pretty good. Did your bare shaft group with the others?
Man I'm glad I wasn't drinking a Pepsi when I saw Elvis.
i love elvis, a lot.
:)
Pac, nice bow, looks familiar? Mike
You be the judge

There is no room for error or frivolity in trad archery. We are the bearers and conservators of ten thousand years of sacred pursuit. Our demeanor and bearing must reflect the solemnity of our obligation, and radiate the respect that we hold for it. Upon seeing us, Outsiders should immediately comprehend that we are engaged in an activity by which the current existence of mankind is made possible. If not for archery and hunting, mankind would not exist. Our mien should project the simple truth that the world, as a whole, owes us. Big Time.

This young man has gotten the concept firmly ingrained.

Yea, the "Serious Trad shooters Only : No Fun-N-Games" Forum was closed down do to lack of interest.
Eric
smooth, killy, reeeaaalll smooth. almost as smooth as me trying to shoot without an arrah on the string...lol. we have fun.
Onlhy broblem here is I personally have MAJOR problems posting pictures ,,other than that nothing but good folks here.
David
That's what I use for my anchor point. PS: Better form then me!!
We may be "serious" at the tradgang.. Serious about fellowship of the bow and having fun doing it.
On the rare occasion that I/we shoot around modern equipment shooters there are definate differances. One side of the range is laughing and having fun,, the other is quiet except for thier very loud compounding devices and then the frequent mumbles about adjusting this or that wizbang rest, sight ect...
Give me the "fun" side always.

That's Josh's pride and joy. I bet he sleeps with it like the kid with the Red Ryder in A Christmas Story.
Later that day I shot 2 balloons at 25 yards and kept asking Josh to shot at 25 too. He wouldn't do it and kept shooting at 20 yards.
After pulling arrows once again I was behind Josh as we headed back to our respective firing lines. To my suprise Josh walked past 20 and didn't stop until he was at the 25. It took about 3 shots but he nailed the balloon. He didn't say much but I know he was proud of his shot.
Two months ago he had never shot a bow in his life and now he is a balloon killer at 25 yards. Yea I'm proud of him. He's doing very well.
haven't been able to take him hunting yet due to his job but I hope to get him out there before the season ends at the end of February.
Yep, this is a great group here. You were told right.
It's OK to be serious about your shooting, but it's supposed to be fun. If you're not having fun you're doing something wrong.
Enjoy the sport, and the trad-gang family you've come to know.
