On the hunt for my next bow woods. Can I see some bows with quilted maple, stained or not. Also let me know what woods are with it.
Really, any light wood bows I'd like to see. I have dark bows and I'm looking at a lighter wood combo. Spalted maple too if anyone has one. Saw Killys and it was gorgeous. Thanks.
Mike
Zipper bows may have some on their site. I know Bill uses quilted maple on some bows.
Mike, you want to be careful with spalted wood. The dark colored lines in spalted wood are a form of decay taking place and running thru the grain. In other words its the early stages of rot. I have used some spalted pecan in limbs with success and it is gorgeous and still holding together after several years (at least the customers who bought them have not called complaining about breakage) Still I wonder. Good luck Bob
Thanks owl, I'll check them out.
Bob, thanks for the heads up, I'll keep that in mind.
Sent a pic of quilted mahogany of a griffin i just sold.

I'll try to get a pic of my bow for you. It is bocote riser with natural maple (not sure if you'd call it quilted or curly, but beautiful nonetheless)...Mike
Tippit, Do you know what stain is on that, it sure is sweet loking.

Here are some pics of my bow. It is a Toelke Whip. Dan said the maple will get a "cornstalk" hue to it after a few months in the sun. That should really make the depth come out. Sorry the first pic is a bit blurry, but wanted to show you how it all ties together...Mike
Thanks Mike.
