Title: Arrow Dynamic?
Post by: mooseman76 on December 30, 2008, 11:16:00 PM
I have been interested in some tapered arrows and was wondering what kind of info you could provide on AD and other tapered shafts.  Which would you recommend for a 53#@30" r/d longbow (I believe it is cut to center) and a 150 grain head?  Would I use the standard insert or a brass one?  I'm on the fence between these arrows and beman classic mfx arrows, help sway me one way or the other  :)   Thanks...Mike

the AD Hammerheads have a reinforced front-end. That's gonna be my next set of shafts.

I use the AD-Lite they are 32.5 long 200grn. up front.Total weight is 575grns.My bow is 53#@32".They shoot like a dart.Even when bare shafted they  shot awesome out to 15yrds.They are a very strong made arrow.

From my experience, the trad heavies were a bit too stiff for my longbow 57# and even my (close to center-cut)recurve 53#.  The trad lites are great though.  I actually think I'm gonna stock up since I don't see myself ever wanting for anything else in an arrow.

Good luck,
Nathan

I'm with Toecutter. The heavies were a touch stiff for my 54@27 recurve so I use the lites as well. Be carefull if you get the wood grain as they are a touch stiff on the spine too. Best arrow I've ever shot. Made of iron and almost indestructable!

You cannot go wrong with the Arrow Dynamic's.  They are one tough arrow.  They AD Trad Lites will work with your set up.

I have bought about every name brand of carbon arrow(beeman, carbon express, goldtip,Grizzly Sika) out there last 12 months and have settled on the Ad lite with allum front insert. I shoot  46lb to 54lb modern style longbows and one recurve. My arrows are 29.25 with 150gr heads and fly like darts in every one of my bows. My next pick would be the Grizzly Sika but the seem alittle more picky about getting the perfect up front weight to fly great than the AD's to me. The AD's aren't cheap but I can't get anything else to fly laser beam straight so I just buy them and try not to loose to many.

Steel, what kind of arrow weight are you getting with that set up?  Mike

I think it was 480 to 490gr using custom cut 4.25" feathers on my digital reloading scale. The GrizzlyStik Sika with 150gr head cut same length is about 50grs heavier because of the brass insert. But the catch to them is I have to lower the head weight to 100grs to make them fly right and then they are the same forward and arrow weight as the Ad lites I have. The GrizzlyStik Sika is a tougher shaft I hit a rock soild the other day the nock came out and thats it, but I think the AD lites are alittle stiffer and a guy could go with a 175gr or even a 200gr head no problems at the bow weights I am shooting and still have great arrow flight.

That would put me right around 500 grains, I would guess with an extra inch and a half on the shaft and 5" feathers.  Sounds good.  Thanks...Mike
