Hello any Idea to make a TD Longbow, I saw a kit on 3rivers anyone ever tried one of these. I also saw some kind of screw used on BW but they are very expensive. Is there an inexpensive kit or some particular kind of screw anyone tried which works fine?
Thanks
I've used the T/D sleeve you can get from several suppliers and the bow bolt from Craig Warren. My favorite is the bow bolt, but it does have a degree of difficulity to install. I've broken 4 bows I installed the bolt in so it's not for the faint of heart! When it works it is the slickest, cleanest, and least obtrusive system I've ever seen. I have one in a 66" 61# longbow I took to Africa and I've put thousands of arrows through it, it's my favorite bow still today.
The sleeve works & is much eaiser to install but you have to use a handle wrap and I've seen them shoot loose. what I mean is that I've seen them have a little "tick" to them on the first shoot after putting the bow together through the years.
I like the bow bolt Craig sells. The installation is pretty difficult and the product is not cheap.I have installed it in probably 24 bows for my customers with one bow failure and it was in the limb and not the bolt. If you are only gonna do 1 or 2 bows I would use the method he recommends for installing it in the riser before the bow is built. If you are gonna do a bunch then learn the way where you saw the bow in half after construction. Whatever you do you're gonna need a good drill press and a good jig.
