Post by: Hillbilly WA on December 29, 2008, 11:02:00 PM
Hi guys, just wondering what u guys personally do before a hunt?
i.e. Sharpen broadheads, any research, how u practice your shooting, etc.
Thanks, Carl

Also, a big hello all round, this is a good group of archers and a good forum.

I hardly ever get to plan ahead as to when I hunt, when I find myself with enough free time I go.  So my usual pre-hunt ritual is running like a chicken with my head cut-off trying to gather my stuff together and get out before my wife changes her mind about letting me out!  :knothead:    :bigsmyl:    :banghead:

For me my biggest thing to get ready for a hunt is to check the weather ie: the wind direction, rain, snow etc... If I have free time, I go and hunt. All I have to do is grab my Bow and jump in the truck and go, I'm always ready to hunt, my gear is always in the pickup ready for the woods! One thing I do is every so often I'll go thru my gear and reorganize it make sure the right stuff is in the right pocket!

Im like bowhunting fool most everythings in the truck ready to go.If its a new place I check and print aerial maps of the area that I will be scouting/hunting. I check the weather forcast and get a wind direction with notes on the map. Check broadheads again for sharpness. Grab some food and water and put in my fanny pack.(pack stays stocked with flashlight, compass, etc.)  I shoot everyday so no extra shooting. I do pull my bow right off as well as several times during the day.
