Title: tuning savannah longbow
Post by: recurve1 on December 28, 2008, 10:10:00 PM
Was wondering if any of you have any trouble tuning your savannah? mine is 45lbs @ 28 inches,29 inch arrow, i draw 28 inches.Im shooting 55-60 fur shafts, sometimes the arrow will slap the shelf.I dont have a perfect release but it is not a bad release.Ive never had  this problem with other mild r/d longbows.Would appreciate any feedbck.thanks.

You are shooting too stiff an arrow. Try 45/50 since the Savannah is not a centershot bow.

I recently had the same problem and a  deep hook ,maintained until release, solved my problem. For some reason I had gotten into the habit of letting my hook relax as I drew and this was causing string torque resuting in the arrow slapping the shelf. I think a stiff arrow will cause this also..anyway good luck, Im sure a few of the more experienced will be along shortly to help you.
