I would like some feedback from some fellows that are using Ron LaClair's 2 piece Shrew. I have a few bows on order and was thinking of a take-down for easy travel. Any info on these bow bolt Shrew's is much appreciated! Thanks......IJ
the shrew with the Bow-bolt is outstanding great bows with the best take down system i think. i do a lot of traveling and my 56" shrew with bow bolt is easyer to pack then my arrows they take more room and are longer. you will be very pleased with it.
they are so good i have another on order!

The Bow Bolt is an excellent takedown system...flick of the wrist and you are off. I've got the Bevel-Lok and the Bow Bolt on two Super Shrews and I prefer the Bow Bolt
King--I've had a BUNCH of Super Shrews and from 60" down to 52" I have not had one problem with my 29 1/2" draw.
I also have a 29 1/2" draw length and I can draw my Shrew Classic Hunter with a Bow Bolt an extra two inches back behind my ear with no stacking. BobW has a 32" draw length and swears by (not at) his Classic Hunter. The Bow Bolt system is great. I have the one on that Classic Hunter and also on a Holm-Made Osprey longbow. Both work exceptionally well. I also have two more Shrews on order, both of them with Bow Bolts. I have 4 other Shrews that are one piece models, but I would wave a wand and change them into two piece models with Bow Bolts if I could. Don't even think twice about it: if you travel with your bow, spend the extra $200 and get the Bow Bolt. You will never regret it. Andy and Steve are both 100% right!

im new to traditional archery and havent even bought a bow yet but trying to learn how everything works.
i like the idea of a take down but if its not much noiser and not much more shock and and doesnt weaken the integrity of the bow
the 200 xtra dollars wouldnt bother me

I used to own (& thouroughly regret selling) a 52" Classic Hunter take down & I draw 30"
I never had a second's trouble with the bow, no stacking at all, just a touch of finger pinch, but even that was negligable. If I had the patience & cash I would definately order another take-down. I prefer the feel of the 2-piece over the 1-piece. There's only a couple of ounces difference in physical weight, but on such a light bow I really found it helped.
I only traded in my quest for more speed, but I'd kill for that bow back now

David my draw is 28 1/2" shoot that no problems
Iv shot countless times with Rob when i was in the UK and Rob would shoot my shrew at his 30" (its a genuine 30" draw) with no problems.
Maybe I should make my next one a take down. Sure do love a Shrew.

what poundage r the bows?
the leather grip is actually cut exactly where the bow comes apart.
that shrew pictured is 61 lbs at my draw i shoot 700grs arrows out of it now that i switched to Beman MFX, the one on order will be 55 lbs + -

sure... i have a rubber "sure" grip on my shrew just roll it up when i take it apart. The others have a very nice leather grip that separates exactly where the bow does.

You just slot the two halves together & give it a 1/4 turn to lock it tight. Best T/D system available.
u like the leather or rubber better andy?

Pointless as it may be for the original question, I can't help but to get in line with my Shrew praise ... even as I've long been in line for a take-down 54" Classic Hunter that otherwise (and aside from the rattlesnake backing) exactly mirrors my first Shrew. To mirror what others have said -- if you travel by air, don't mess around, Shrew or otherwise, but get a reliable take-down. I will not likely ever sell my one-piece CH, as it is the most perfect bow I've ever owned (and having owned many, that is saying something) ... except for air travel, where even 54" has become an expensive problem. No matter what happens to the rest of the world, I don't think Shrew will be seeing any serious economic downturns anytime soon! Happy new year to all. dave
