I got my new 58" ACS-CX on the 24th and strung it this evening with a new 6-strand D-97 padded loop string Bobby Graham (make of G-Strings) just built for me.
This baby is no frills, all business - but still a very beautiful bow. Red and silver Dymondwood riser, and the standard black carbon limbs. Bobby's wire-like G-String of red and silver D-97 really compliments it. The finish is a slightly textured, matte-like clearcoat that appears very durable. Fit and finish are very good, as to be expected.
This bow is 45#@28, which makes it somewhere around 42-43# at my draw (approx. 27.5" to the front of the riser). I shot it through the chrono with a 402 grain arrow, and got a high of 188 FPS and a low of 183 FPS. The draw cycle is VERY smooth.
The speed is, as expected, very impressive, but what's really impressive is the lack of noise. I started with 1/4 of a strip of catwhisker at the quarter points, but it seemed to make the arrows jump around and had a whippy noise on release. I cut the catwhiskers down to what equals 1/8 of a strip at the quarter points and the bow got VERY quiet. I had to drop my point weight down 25 grains, but now the arrows seem to be flying really well - however this is only after about an hour of shooting in a closed indoor space with a max shot of around 8-9 yards(I'll post more tuning results from longer ranges later when the weather permits). I ended up damaging 3 nocks before I decided enough was enough.
All in all, I can only say that the ACS-CX bows are FOR REAL. Everything I read about them before deciding to buy one seems legit. Dan Palma at A&H is extremely friendly and helpful in the whole selection process. Anyone considering buying a top-notch bow should look seriously at one of these bows.
