my baby sister lives just south of Charleston, SC. I've never visited her so I'm gonna make the trip before long, most likely mid-late Feb. I'm gonna bring my stickbow along with a friend or two (traditional guys also) and would like to do some shooting and maybe even some pig hunting while we're there. she works at a meat processing place and is gonna try to hook us up but we'd sure rather hook up with some other traditional guys. anybody down that way wanna sling some arrows with 2 or 3 hillbillies???
thanks in advance
I'm here in Summerville, come on down.
Tim
Danny, you ouht to find out when the state shoot is in Feb. I know I had a blast there last year. 'Great bunch that put on this one. Don
I'll send you a PM Tim! thanks
Don' that sounds like a good idea! who knows the dates???
thanks for the info Tim!
hey Don! the dates for that shoot is Feb 21 & 22
i live about 2 hours from charlston but may could get togather. i have got about 10 3-d targets. batman is right there is a nice trad shoot the last of feb at rocks poubs campground.
thanks for the offer B-DOG! that shoot is starting to sound pretty good.
I live in Goose Creek and would love to join in for any shooting ya'll have in mind.
Bill
I'd like to fling a few with all you guys.
could someone PM or e-mail me directions to that State shoot mentioned earlier??
thanks
Tim,
Keep me posted on anything you boys line up.
JT
The shoot is at the Rocks Pond campground in Eutawville. Its off of Hwy 6. I'll get some more detailed directions for you.
JT, I'll let you know if I can come up with something. I'm on short supply of private land but maybe I can find someone to host us for a day. Maybe a small game hunt might work if land with pigs can't be lined up.
hey Tim! thank you VERY much for the effort so far. I'll talk with my sister tomorrow and get her exact location.
sorry I've not updated this post for a while. my sister lives in Ravenel, SC. she said it's still considered Charleston. we're still looking for a place to hunt pigs. also, does anyone know how far the SC State Shoot is from where shes at?
thanks
Thanks for asking about a shoot to go to. Bowhunters of South Carolina will have a Traditional Febuary 20th-22nd. The shoot is located near Eutawville SC on Santee Cooper Lakes at Rocks Pond campground. You will be about 30 to 40 minutes from shoot. I will be glad to mail you some info, or you can go to Bowhunters of South Carolina Website for info. It should be on in there sometime next week. Maybe someone close to Charleston can help you out with the Hogs
Also Danny we have a few good novelty shoots. If the water level stays up we are planning a Canoe shoot this year.
two hatchet, How far is that from Aiken? My wife is down there from mid Jan to mid April. I was going to come down around the first of March but just might come earlier or a couple of times...Jeff
Dang Tim, small world. We come down every March or April to enjoy the largemouth action. I'm always trying to talk the guys into a bowfishing day. We stay at Blacks Camp, and have launched out of Rocks pond before. The guy we go down to see also lives in Summerville.
You WVa guys need to know that these 'carolina boys just aint right, specially that 2 hatchet feller.
Tippit, it would be a couple three hours from Aiken, but bring your tent and we'll tell a few lies. It really is a great shoot with a bunch of good ol' boys.
Hogtamer, I can attest to that... those boys that live on the other side of the river just ain't right... :goldtooth:
Hal good to hear from you. You and the appling gang, TBG members, Tippitt, Raineman we would love to have you. Mark if I recall I've said the same thing about you guys on the west side of the great Pee Dee river.
now that we've all had the chance to catch up with each other....let's talk pig hunting in the Charleston, SC area. my sister is having a tough time finding a place and things aren't any better on our end. we hear stories about the south being over run with pigs so there's gotta be a place somewhere close to where we're coming too. come on guys...THINK....PLEASE. :)
sswv, Carolina hogs are tough,,, not saying they can't be killed, but it seems we have just enough of them to be aggravating. In my area we bait them for about two months and then you can kill one or two... after that they come in at three in the morning. To be honest with you, if you kill any big game animal in S.C. with a stickbow you have done something! Good luck though... :archer:
I'm about an hour from Charleston, maybe 15 minutes from Rocks Pond.Probably won't be around for the shoot this year tho, been on the road a good bit lately.
I'm in St. Matthews, about 35-40 minutes north of Eutawville. I'm definitely gonna try and make the shoot. I'm new to this area and this is the first I've heard of it. As for hogs, I've seen plenty of sign in the swamps and along the river, but no hogs. I hope to meet some of you guys there.
Danny, Call Ray Hammond. I haven't hunted at his place, but I here nothing but good reports. I would think It would be about an hour or hour and a half from charleston. I can say that there are a lot of pigs in that area. Don
thanks Don! we've been considering that option.
Yes, we are about 1 1/4 hours from Charleston..near Estill, SC. We have a few pigs, fair chase on some pretty ground.
