Title: What do you think of this pattern?

This is the new U.S. Air Force A.B.U. How do you think it's going to work for hunting? Not sure why they felt the need to have their own pattern. Wasted millions in my oppinion. They should have just used the U.S. Armys version and saved all the $ on R and D.

I think it will look almost solid from a distance.  Not enough contrast in my opinion.

I agree with Apex. Looks like a lighter version of the Vietnam era tiger stripe.

For hunting I think it will be good. However I see they kept the old pocket arangement. The Army ACUs have the best pocket arangement of them all.

AFA them needing their own camo pattern,I was in the Marines when all branches had the old woodlands.Trust me,each branch having thier own pattern is a good thing for several reasons I'm not getting into here.DEF not a waste of money.

They don't have any of these in summer weights yet. They are heavy and very hot if your in a warm climate. The Air Force came out with this to be distinctive from the other branches of the service. These new ABU's ACU's etc are great in the sagebrush.

Camo- It's like anyother type IMHO.I have wacked deer in plaid shirts. It's all about movement and scent. The only camo I would spend money on from now on is ASAT if I did buy camo.Something about ASAT that appeals to me. Not a camo that appeals to most  hunters but is documented as working according to fellow Trad Gangers and the videos I have watched. It seems every season manufacterers come out with a new and improved camo pattern. Just something to make us hunters say oh yeh that's better I better buy it maybe I'll wack more deer with that pattern. It appeals to our eyes  more than games eyes. Most of the time it "bunches up at a distance" Like the Mrs. says" something new for all you hunters to buy every year" SORRY if I got off the subject a little I still have and wear good old woodland camo. Why does the government have to R and D new camo? They just came out with the new Digital a few years ago.  Just my 2cents.

Loved my old Nan tiger stripe.  Trouble was it keep getting smaller after washings.  This took about 10 yrs though.  I'm sure it was not me getting bigger?????

That sure looks like an old camo pattern to me! Not too good for hunting though.  Way too dark.

The camo patter doesn't have quite enough color contrast for me. Tough to judge any pattern up close though. Better to see it from a distance in forest or field. As Apex stated above, it will probably blend into a solid shade when viewed from any distance.

On the other hand, your avitar is definately the coolest I've ever seen!

90% of the air force only hides from their nco's.  The pararescue and assault blue guys need some manner of digitial cammo, not this. They wear them on my facility and anything past 100 yards look black.  Again, why bother?
RVN tiger stripes-thought I had still had a jacket from VNMC -had great contrast. Any of the commercial varieties are better.

that pattern was made to conceal while laying prone. Horizontal lines stand out as unnatural in nature. Tiger stripe works better for hunting after it has faded some. I don't think it's anywhere near the best pattern made for the military.

I agree with others that there is not enough contrast in that new Air Force camo pattern. ASAT is not very pretty to look at, but it sure works well. Predator works about the same and looks a lot better. Both have similar attributes as far as large patterns and heavy contrast which blend very well into most outdoor environments, even broken areas with snow. The ASAT leaf cut camo suit is a good product. Even better is a Ghillie suit. If Rod Jenkins would get off his can and finish designing his new Ghillie suit, we could all have some great camo to bowhunt with that everyone would be thrilled to have. Come on Rod!

Would work from a treestand if you had some back cover. I used the original Tiger Stripe for about 4 yrs, worked fine in certain areas that had dense cover but not in any areas that were open.

Sounds like a bunch of designers sitting around critiquing the 2009 offerings.  Animals won't notice unless it moves.  People are a different story.  I guess it doesn't matter if you are inside an F-18 or Stealth fighter.

as far as I know they didn't spend very much on R & D.  They just designed a digital type camo that would look different than everybody elses.  From what I've gathered it isn't intended to be a great camo because any of the socom guys or Air Force FO's won't be wearing it when they step outside the wire.
