Merry Christmas to all... I need some help, I am looking for a traditional fur hat for hunting and was wondering if any of you wear one and where you got it from. Any sites would be appreciated. Warm fur hats for winter hunting is what I am looking for. Some pics would be good also.
Thanks, Al

PM sent with site. Cool stuff!
They would be warm but safe :scared: I would worry about being mistaken for prey by our flying brothers or two legged :smileystooges:
I've got a bobcat in the freezer that needs to be a hat!!!!
I use to wear a rabbits skin Mad Boomer until a bow hunter was shot after being mistaken for a squirrel. :scared:
A fur hat is hard to beat when the temperature dips. The best is Otter and mink for durability followed by beaver and muskrat. Long haired animals like fox, racoon, coyote, fisher make good hats but they will never last as long as the first ones mentioned and they tend to go off color the more sunlight they are exposed to. The trapper style that has side flaps that can be tied down over the ears or up as the weather warms are a terrific looking hat. One thing you may want to think about is a hand muffler with the fur on the inside they are very warm.
Fur hats are the best. BUT
Years back a friend of mine bought an old mink coat from a thrift shop and his mother made Mink hats for a bunch of us. Nothing warmer. One day I got shot at in the woods. Never wore a fur hat in the woods again. Orange for me. Sad since they are really nice. Just gives me the creeps to wear it though.

SMac...I agree totally. I've been shot once and get the willies everytime I think about some fool aiming my direction. I have a warm fur hat but will not wear it for that reason. That; and, my favorite old Stetson has a few miles left.
I know a guy who had an owl about take his head off while predator calling wearing a fur hat. He thought it would be a good decoy for coyotes/fox, ended up getting 8 stiches and loosing his hat.
Must have been one hell of an owl. We have Eagles where I live. Never thought of that one. Nasty
