Title: Don't Forget Our Military!
Post by: JAG on December 24, 2008, 09:55:00 PM
We're at home, with family and friends close around....then our Military are far from home and their Loved Ones!
Thanks to ALL who serve in our Armed Forces!  Thanks for keeping me safe, and my family safe, too!
Thanks for your sacrifice and hardships.
Special thanks to my son, Travis and his unit, in Northern Iraq.  Thanks to you too, Chris Surtees! Don't let me forget all the Trad Gang, that are there, or have been there/done that!
Ya'll are truly my HEROS!
Hope you have a safe quiet Christmas, and return home safe and sound.  We miss ya'll.
Johnny/JAG

I retired less than 8 months ago.  I also spent a "couple of days" in Afganistan several years ago.  It's good to hear that folks still think of the deployed troops at Christmas time, cause we sure thought about being with ya'll!!  The dust and deprivation cause us to think of you ..and home a lot!

Just talked to my son in Iraq. He'll be alongside many more dedicated Soldiers working for all of us on Christmas. He has a flight mission scheduled in the AM. It is still hard to believe he is the one there when inside I feel it should be me.

God Bless them all.

The whole family serves. My son in law is a lifer in the AF. I went for a 2 year stretch not seeing my daughter at all and I am not seeing her this Christmas. Not easy. Thank God my wife and I can now travel and, Lord willing, we will see her and him early next year. Merry Christmas to all!  :)  Jawge

Family serves too, that's for sure.

Here are some favorite pics from home, for those who are far away. All these places are still here and safe because of the work you do. I can never give you thanks enough, I can only let you know that you are not forgotten.

The cool springs in the mountains are covered in ice and rime, but they still flow abundantly and feed the land, house the brook trout and fill the beaver ponds.

Campfires burn bright in lonely American hillsides and bayous. Hunters stalk God's gifts, and return to the fires to share and tell of their discoveries.

The snows are falling and the tracking is good.

But the woods will be empty for me until you are home safe, with your family, and can wake up in the free air and know that chances are, what you see will be good.

If I weren't an old lady, and if I could go out there and stay useful, I would be watching over you with my 7-08 Varmint with the 25 power Weaver on it. I will send my prayers, though, and one who is far more powerful than I will surround you with a love that never sleeps, strength that never fades, and life that never ends. May you all have peace, and return safely to your families.
