Well it may seem early to you but I need to start moving on this and get the ball rolling, its time again for the Raptor Archery , Weitas Creek Outfitters spring bear hunt bow building workshop.
Class and hunt will take place on either the 10th through the 16th of May or the 17th to the 23 depending on what works for guys that want to come.
Eight days of building bows and hunting bears in the Bitteroot mountains of Idaho. We are only taking four guys per week on this great time in a great place. This part of Idaho is a two bear unit with loads of color phase bears as well as some gorgeous black phase with white chest patches.

And chasing black bears to boot. If we cant fill the weeks with bow builders we are going to open one of the two weeks to just bear hunters and would love to have fellow Tradgangers along.

Here's a good photo of hauling in the wood for the last class, staves are wrapped in plastic to prevent getting wet. Another 30 miles to go to the cabin. (http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x295/photos4work/IMGP0026.jpg)
Dang Ted those look like white (gulp) wood staves.
Tell me it ain't so.
Mike
If the Cook's weren't so wild I'd be back! :scared:
Really, I'd like to come back Ted. Talk Gary into coming down to Texas with you in a few weeks and we'll get it set-up. BTW, nice pics Charlie. I'd lost mine in the computer crash. Thanks! CK
New cook Curtis, this one you dont have to be afraid of ( heck if you werent so cute it wouldnt be a problem). New cook is a guy named Kelly , great cook and boy will he talk your ears off at the dinner table, nice to not have to worry about cooks gone wild, nuf said pardner!
Working on Gary coming with Jesse and I the end of January.
Naw Mike all but two of those were osage, probably the plastic wrap you see ,the two hickory never got used, your not afraid of a little whitewood are you Mike.
Ted this sound s great, I sent you a p.m.
Ted,
As you know my son is working for Idaho F&G in that area. I told him you were hunting there next spring, so he went ahead and spray painted your name on a couple boars...... sounds like a great time, and yes there are plenty of bears in that area...Doug
Please PM me prices,etc
Thank You
Another run at the top for the guys just sitting around dreaming of spring. Three feet of snow on the ground here in Hood River and they say another 2 before Friday, cant wait to see the bears eating that early spring grass.
Don't know if it would be realistic for me or not, but Idaho is reachable and it sounds like a great time. My bow pulling capability is probably not up to legal for bear, but I'd probably be happy to see some in the woods. PM with prices, please...
Ted, PM
Man this hunt makes me wish I had more money, or a 2nd job :D . Curtis, where did you get that quiver in the pic? Might like to have one like that myself. Mark

Two slots filled for Terry and Anthony , two more still open.
What more could a guy ask for , Bears, Bows and Curtis Keller for a camp mate.
We still have openings for the rest of the season bear hunting but only two slots for this week.

Well looks like we have another slot filled , welcome aboard Shane.
Shane is hunting with Curtis right now in TX and from what Curtis said shot one of the largest Javelina he has seen. Congratulations Shane! I just got off the phone with those two and as usual they sound like they are having way to much fun.
My son Jesse 13, and I head out next week to hook up with Curtis for a little of that fun.

OK guys ,looks as though this year is filled, four guys is all we take. We have four plus Curtis along to help out and keep everyone in line.
Four guys are going to have a great time in the mountains of Idaho building bows and hunting bears.
I have had several inquires for 2010 and do plan on doing it that year as well God willing.
Best to start to nail it down early , first come , well you know the routine.
Thanks all , we will keep you posted
You guys will have a good time. I have hunted bear with Gary three times. Rick
Hey Rick , good to see you out and about.
Come on out , we still have room for the bear hunts
without the bow building.
Well looks as though one of the guys has some last minute obligations to fulfill and cant make it this year so we have one slot open for the week of May 17th -24th of bow building and bear hunting.
Contact me at 541-386-4503 for info if you want to join us on this great week , Two bear unit in the mountains of Idaho building bows and sharing a great camp with a great group of guys, not to mention Curtis Kellar in camp hunting bears as well.
