Title: The Streak Continues
Post by: Ontario Longbow on December 16, 2008, 10:31:00 PM
Every year for the last 6 years I have been blessed / cursed with close encounters of the big buck kind. Although I'm 1 for 6 tonight was this years event (so far 15 days to go). Big 8 point 18" spread with tall tines at 12 yards head on / quartering toward. He had good mass and looked to be around a 3/12 year old deer. I needed him to continue down the trail for a 6 yard shoot. He hung up at 12 yards with a huge dead cedar between us, he froze and smelled, looked in my direction for 8 minutes. I just about died of cold -15 degrees celcuis. He just turned and trotted away. 30 minutes later a big doe passed in front at 35 yards followed by another 10 minutes later. All in all a great but cold hunt,,Frank

That is too cool! No pun intended! That would be amazing if I had more hunts like that. (But I still want to shoot something once and a while.)

Thanks for sharing that!    Bona

I suffer in 30 degrees where I am from. Could not imagine trying to sit on stand in that kind of weather.

Hey Frank long time, stay warm and you'll get 'im.
-15 is grim to be out unless there is no wind. Over here it is a peachy +28C  :bigsmyl:  no hunting though. Good luck
